Why, why, why, why, why did Greg Rucka have to leave Checkmate?!??!?!?!?!
This was a very good read and one of the better Final Crisis tie-ins (being that it actually had something to do with the main story). But, it brought up the painful question mentioned above once again for me. If you never read Rucka's run on Checkmate, shame on you, it's one of the best storylines in comics. This book just shows how well Rucka handles normally lower level characters like Mister Terrific, Cheetah, and of all people Snapper Carr.
We revisit another one of my favorite Rucka storylines as well, The Omac Project. I have to admit that I was very sick of OMACs for a while but their inclusion in this story is well done. I love the look of realization on Mr. Terrific's face when he realizes that he can utilize them.
Another thing I really liked in this issue and wish they would use throughout the main books is the time indicators on many of the pages. )The Day Evil Won - Total Defeat +21 etc.. This gave the book a very solid timeline and made it easier to follow the events.
Hopefully this ties in well to FC #5 like Submit did with FC #4. I continue to love this event and cannot wait until I can read the whole thing in one sitting.
PS....I know Checkmate was just cancelled but please Mr. Rucka, consider coming back to these characters at some point in your career :-)
