Pick of the Week
This was a fantastic conclusion to this story. The original Hush story is one of my favorites and I have grown to like the character. Paul Dini's writing is dead-on in this book, especially Hush's reaction to the Batcave.
Let's talk about the Batcave for a sec. I'm a sucker for huge, sprawling, cavernous Batcave art and this issue does not disappoint. We get a fight through what seems like every corner of the cave and if you catch them, lots of little surprises. For example, we get : the Batmobile Tank from Dark Knight Returns, the Tumbler from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, a partially disassembled Batmobile from Tim Burton's original Michael Keaton Batman, the Batmobile from Batman : The Animated Series, the campy TV series Batmobile, the Whirlybat copter, and a 60's style Batboat. Whew that's alot to cram into one book. But Dustin Nguyen does it magnificently. I've never been his biggest fan but his art is definitely growing on me.
Storywise, things wrap up nicely and Catwoman is written very well in the end. It seems that her little speech serves two purposes. One, a big "screw you" to Hush setting up their conflict in future solicited Detective issues and Two, it seems to be setting up for a "Bad Girls of Gotham" series in the future, which if written by Dini, would be awesome.
Once again, this does not tie in to R.I.P. in any way, shape or form that we've seen yet but the story on it's own is a very enjoyable read.
Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good
