Speaking as a newcomer to the DCU and comics in general I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the story in Green Lantern #29. Before this issue I knew little, if anything at all, about Green Lantern and this issue provided me a perfect platform for jumping onto the story and not feeling like I'd missed something.

Although I can't relate personally to the things that happens to Hal in this story I can relate to the idea that no matter how many people seem to have turned their back on you, there's always a future for you somewhere. We all know where that future lies for Hal don't we?

This issue is amazingly well written and I'll be keeping an eye out for any other Geoff Johns works I happen to come across. The art is some of the best I've seen in a comic book to date, very bright and colourful. You can really tell that a lot of time and care went into every panel.

If you're in the comic store and have been hearing about how good this issue is, stop thinking and just pick it up, you won't be disappointed. I'll be carrying on with the series from now on, I'll hope to see you all wherever Hal happens to take us. "Beware my power...Green Lantern's light".

Good review, I've never picked up a solo Green Lantern book before.  I'll pick this up next week.
