Avengers Initiative #10

Let's get a few things straight; I hated the aftermath of Civil War, I loathed World War Hulk, and I despise the weekly Spider-Man series.

So why on Earth do I love this title so much?!

Dan Slott and Christos Gage continue to dazzle me yet again with what has to be my favorite monthly book out from Marvel.  Throw in Stefano Caselli on pencils, and each panel is just absolute eye-candy.

Continuing with the Killed In Action storyline, we find the renegade MVP clone 'KIA' still on his murderous rampage making sure all those responsible for the original MVP's death are brought to justice; by getting blasted by the dangerous Tactigon.

We then learn how defenseless Henry Peter Gyrich is without his posse of powerhouses such as Gauntlet, Yellowjacket, or Justice.  Enter his 'personal bodyguards' consisting of the Scarlet Spiders and Mutant Zero.  Sadly, they still get their asses handed to them by KIA until Gauntlet enters the picture.  Clashing of the titans soon follows.

The issue ends with the new and improved New Warriors getting in the way of Cloud 9 and company trying to re-activate the original (and presumed dead) MVP's old memories.  Death in comic books still means nothing like it used to (right Harry?).

If you're just starting out in the Marvel universe, or are just looking for that fun new action-packed book, I cannot highly recommend Avengers: The Initiative enough.  Do yourself a favor and go pick up the trade pronto!
