This issue starts off the second story arc to this incredibly underrated new series from Image Comics.  At the start of the issue we see a character that appears to look a lot like Helius trying to crash and airplane and kill hundreds of people while Barock and Zoë are house hunting in New Jersey.  Barock is making the move to Earth and trying to deal with having a materialistic fiancée who is struggling to decide between the large mansion and the Frank Lloyd Wright house.  Through the early panels of the issue we learn more about the events of that took place in post Civil War Neboron.

Being the Boy Scout that he is, Barock confronts the Hecticus the Helius look alike, and tries to save the plane from crashing.  While Barock is trying to play the role of hero, Hecticus escapes and heads back to Los Angeles and his secret identity.  During this time we learn more about Hecticus and his presumed empire of wealth and fortune that he has amassed while one Earth.

Before too long, Barock is confronted with his next challenge which is meeting Zoë’s parents for dinner.  The parents are written in a way that makes you the reader squirm and feel uncomfortable because you know your mother and father would find the same ways to embarrass you.  Barock and Zoë announce their engagement and talk about their plans to buy a house.  As the issue closes Barock tells Zoe that he has found a way to make some money and it looks like his chiseled, god-like good looks are going to be critical.

This is another great issue and even though I have thoroughly enjoyed each issue from the start, I continue to be surprise how well written and drawn this book is each time I finish an issue.  Glen Brunswick takes the mundane tasks and routine events and writes them into a superhero book that makes them either exciting or funny.  I honestly feel the humor is one of the more understated elements of this book.  Dan McDaid offers his usual great art and style that harkens back to a Jack Kirkby-esque type of superhero comic.  I am excited to see where this story arc goes.  For anyone that has yet to check this book out this issue is a great jumping on point.  I would also like to mention that the first trade came out last week if you are looking to catch the first story arc.  Well written and great art.  This book is pure fun and there should be more comics like this in the marketplace.
