Action Comics #867

Written by Geoff Johns
Art by Gary Frank and Jon Sibal
Cover by Frank

Size: 32 Pages

Price: $2.99

After a great first issue, the story arc dips noticeably with number 867.

This issue feels rushed and attempts to condense two issue’s worth of information (one part exposition, one part action). As a result the first half quickly re-explains backstory through dialogue, which never feels right, and the second half moves so quickly there is almost no explanation.

The art remains just about flawless. It is fun to recognize the famous faces from the Superman films, and there are some wonderful facial expressions. Supergirl is portrayed as a bit more realistic than the average teenaged super-babe (though still a bit skinny).

This chapter was a bit disappointing, but I’m sure it will pick back up.

Although it is a bit jarring at first, I think the quick movement of the story in the second half works because it helps reinforce the urgency Superman is feeling in his chase after Brainiac. Loved the art, but certainly agree Supergirl is too skinny looking although granted I am not familiar with how she is normally drawn.

Dude, Supergirl looked hot, lol.

I didn't feel this issue was rushed or overly condensed at all (just my opinion) and I would rather have a writer try to put two issues worth of story into one issue, compared to when they stretch one issues worth of story/information over two or more issues.

@WadeWilson- Agreed Supergirl looked hot. And in no way do I feel like a creep for thinking an animated girl is hot.
