All Star Superman #10

    I had one of those moments reading this where I could of totally started balling my eyes out, but thankfully I have enough self control. That, and I was in shock that I was reading a Superman book and feeling pretty emotional about it.
    I love Superman, and always have, and I'm always surprised to see a fresh story that shows how even after 70 years, you can still write some damn good stories with this character, and whats sadder then the last will and testament of the Man of Steel. On the second page we get the image of the depressing visage that is a dying Superman. A man struggling to do everything he possible can so Earth is left in the right hands. How can you not love this man? Sure, everyone says that Superman is a boyscout, but you can't make fun of a guy who brings microscopic Kryptonians to a hospital just to cure sick children. Okay, maybe you could, BUT STILL.
    I enjoy Grant Morrison as a writer mostly because he differs from rest of the flock, and he's able to make interesting and dynamic stories out of characters you never thought possible. Like his recent run on Batman, I never thought you could do that. It might not be mind blowing all the time, but he always makes me interested to read more.
   With All Star Superman, he's taken one of the worlds oldest superheroes and put him on his death bead. Now, I'm not totally sure if Morrison is actually gonna kill him, which would make this All Star run pretty short, but the idea that Superman is actually staring death in the face is sort of mesmerizing.
    I know, I know, he's totally died before. But this is different, Superman isn't dying in the heat of battle, he's dying from a solar radiation overdose, which is pretty much like dying from cancer. The great part about it is that Superman is trying like hell to make sure he can do what he can to keep the world safe.
    And Frank Quietly, his art is just pure perfection. I don't think I saw a single panel that made me twinge. Instead, I stared at some for minutes on end, marveling at the genius and detail he would put into the most simple things we would take for granted. For example; Superman uses his x-ray vision to look at the smallest of cells in his hand, down to the very atom. The way its done just kind of seemed so non-sealant that I just loved it so much.
    I've always thought this was a good series, but this issue made it great. If your not reading it, please do, or at least pick up the trades. (Although, I'm pretty sure everyone is reading this, unless your a Supes-hater)
