Sven the Return has, well, Returned! And he’s old, and he’s settled with the wife and kids, and the Viking’s are coming for him and his, and, man, is he pissed. Wood’s newest Northlander issue continues the story of Sven the Returned whose rise we witnessed in the series’ first arc. Here we get, once again, that classic “Unforgiven” story of a retired bad ass, being dragged back into the fight to pound on some young, arrogant whipper snappers aiming to make a name for themselves through some senseless geriatric homicide. The story goes as you’d expect it to go with Gianfelice usual sterling storytelling matching Wood’s well-said words. There’s nothing too deep or original here, but it was a good, fun Viking story, and there’s nothing wrong with a good, fun Viking story every now and then.
