Haunt Of Horror Lovecraft #1 (OF 3)

Lovecraft-inspired comics are akin to Alan Moore-inspired movies. They can never quite live up to the master's original work. That said, I did enjoy this. You can really tell that Corben is a huge Lovecraft fan and has a great understanding of what the stories were all about. The one real drawback is that a lot of the magic of Lovecrafts writing was the the language and the images that it spawned in the readers mind. I missed not being able to use my own imagination, but they did publish some of the original writings in the comic, so hopefully, the uninitiated will be able to see what they're in for when they go to their local library and pick up some Lovecraft tomes.

Totally agree with your review. I'm a big Lovecraft fan, but have been disappointed with the various Cthulhu comics that have been coming out lately. They're just not anywhere near as good as simply reading a HPL story.
I thought the graphic novel "Lovecraft" that came out a few years ago was really good. Here's hoping they do a great "Mountains of Madness" graphic novel adaptation some day. That would be really cool.
