Captain America Reborn #1 (OF 5)

This was sadly much what I thought this issue was going to be. A great deal of setup and recap even including captions of who characters are, what group they belong to, and what their relationship is to Steve Rodgers. I take some of this in stride with the understanding that this is an event book and not everyone out their may be up to date with the Cap universe, yet I don’t remember Hank Pym ever appearing in any Captain America issue and he gets a cute caption title.

The reveal is interesting? A man out of time device could be very cool unless and I fear it is just a plot device to show us the major events in the characters life as he relives them.

The art is a bit muddy and dark but a great deal of Marvel books seem to be so what else is new? I do think it fits for the flashbacks to Normandy and I love Hitch’s big panels and pages there.

As long as we do not get Captain America really being reborn, like the Dali Lama this could go ok.
