You want hot up and comers? Try Jason Aaron (Scalped, Wolverine, Ghost Rider), Marc Guggenheim (Amazing Spider-Man, Resurrection, Young X-Men), Andy Lanning (Nova, Annihilation Conquest), and Rebecca Donner (Burnout).
You want awesome artists? Cliff Chiang (Green Arrow & Black Canary), Mike Norton (Green Arrow & Black Canary, All New Atom), and Jamal Igle (Teen Titans, Tangent Superman) are right here.

Hey!
An interview with a female creator that ISN'T horrifically akward!
@MisterBlank - Are they usually?
Posted by conor on 04/26/08 at 03:19 PM@conor
I don't know, maybe i was just remembering the becky cloonan thing...
It's just that I saw the interveiw at the start and thought "uh oh, this is going to be really akward" but by the time it was over with i thought "hey! that was actually quite pleasant!"
So... no disrespect?
Posted by MisterBlank on 04/26/08 at 03:27 PM@MisterBlank - No disrespect taken, I was just curious. And the Becky Cloonan one was definitely awkward.
Posted by conor on 04/26/08 at 03:31 PMHaven't watched the show and I'm sure it'll be awesome as usual but on the show notes... Andy Lanning? Up and Comer? - He's been in the biz for 20 years!!
Posted by Kartoffelkopf on 04/26/08 at 03:40 PMI would argue that as a writer in mainstream comics, his and Dan Abnett's work is really taking hold and that's a name I'm happy to see on writing duties. But strictly speaking, you're probably right.
Posted by josh on 04/26/08 at 03:50 PMAwesome coverage guys. One quick gripe though...why wasn't a Limp Bizkit song playing during the smashing of the CGC case? Seriously though, that was hilarious, way to cross the line.
Posted by DavidB on 04/26/08 at 05:31 PMI agree with DavidB. That ending scene was hilarious.
It would been even funnier though if Michael Turner walked by as you were doing it...
Posted by MisterBlank on 04/26/08 at 05:47 PMIs it me or does it seem like Neal Adams has , errr, um... issues.
I get the feeling that he has a little leather bound book that he writes the name of every person that has ever pissed him off in the biz, and little revenge plots under each one.
Where Darwyn Cooke comes off like a cool dude, Neal Adams seemed to come off a bit assholish.
And please noone tell him I said it cuz I dont wanna be in the book.
Posted by Unoob on 04/26/08 at 07:35 PMYeah. I'd heard other people talk about Adams personality, but when I saw it for myself I was surprised at how full of himself Neal Adams appeared to be.
Still, I enjoyed this episode a lot. Nice work, guys!
Posted by Doughboy on 04/26/08 at 08:55 PMThere's like 97 other interviews in this episode! Spread the love.
Cliff Chiang was really cool. Totally unassuming and a genuinely nice guy. Guggenheim seems friendly too. Really, the good natured comic creators greatly outweigh anybody else. It was really positive.
Posted by PaulMontgomery on 04/26/08 at 09:15 PMThere were a lot of good interviews in this one. Also I feel so sorry for you Pol, so bad I'm glad that I am currently unemployed over doing what you had to that weekend. You poor bastard.
Oddly enough whenever I watch an interview with Grant Morrison he just makes me dislike him more, this one not so much. He didn't come off as self centered as he usually does to me. I am interested in Batman RIP and Final Crisis... Just don't tell Labor I'm looking at some Grant Morrison stuff, I'll never hear the end of it after the long I dislike Grant Morrison discussion I had on the threads.
Posted by jstump on 04/26/08 at 10:11 PMGrant Morrison's suit was amazing. I kept hoping Conor was going to ask him who he was wearing, like on the red carpet at the Oscars.
And the destruction of the slabbed book was a thing of beauty.
Way to do a con show, guys! (But Gordon looks so sad :-/)
Posted by ohcaroline on 04/26/08 at 11:06 PM
Great show guys! Great Interviews!!!
I was expecting Neal Adams to end his interview with: Young man, You may leave my presence!
Posted by Simon on 04/26/08 at 11:15 PM
If anyone has earned the right to have an ego, it's most certainly Neal Adams. Besides, his bluster is so outrageous that it's kinda endearing.
Posted by conor on 04/26/08 at 11:26 PMNeal Adams = fucking legend! I love how he comes over as just not giving a shit. Such a cool guy!
Grant Morrison + Conor = twins! Seriously though, that was one bad-ass interview. Good work, sir.
Gordon = comedy gold. Again! Wait... is Gordon being fired now Pol's the new intern?
Guys, your con shows are always fantastic, but I think you outdid yourselves here. This was just awesome, and you've earned yourselves a hefty donation. Thank you so much for bringing the fun to those of us that couldn't be there. Now, if you'd just snagged that new TDK trailer.... :)
Posted by Eyun on 04/27/08 at 08:46 AM@Eyun - I'm just a special guest intern. Gordon need not worry about his job. That said, I'd gladly help out at any other conventions so long as I can get my ass to the venue.
Posted by PaulMontgomery on 04/27/08 at 09:23 AMI was also fascinated with the Neal Adams interview. Good stuff Josh!
Is Augie walking behind you guys going to become an NYCC staple? That's 2 years in a row!
Posted by torippu on 04/27/08 at 05:31 PMGood work, Pol!
Posted by Eyun on 04/27/08 at 06:00 PMIt took me a couple of minutes to realize the guy in the Hurley outfit wasn't actually Hurley...
Posted by HBD on 04/27/08 at 06:24 PMRocking episode! I could have watched another hour:)
Posted by s1lentslayer on 04/27/08 at 07:37 PMGreat, great show, guys!
There were some really fantastic interviews here and regardless of what you think of him personally, I don't think that there are many DC fans who wouldn't be excited by the idea of 6 DC graphic novels (?) by Neil Adams. And even if I haven't actually heard Greendale by Neil Young despite being a big fan of the man, the comic sounds cool and more Cliff Chaing artwork is always a good thing. The highlight for me though was the Grant Morrison interview because I swear everytime I hear something new from him, I become even more excited about his upcoming work at DC and Vertigo.
Posted by Ilash on 04/27/08 at 07:47 PMexcellent shirt Gordon, I wear mine on an extremely regular basis
Posted by deezer on 04/28/08 at 05:33 PMJason Aaron looks scarily like Conor
Posted by lantern4life on 04/30/08 at 01:50 AMGreat show guys. This brought back memories of the Con which feels so long ago. I remember you guys talking about breaking slab at the party and whish I could have been there to see peoples reaction as you were jumping on the damn thing. Did you guys ever find out how much it was "worth"?
Posted by Dex on 04/30/08 at 05:46 PM@Dex - Like twenty bucks or something.
Posted by conor on 05/02/08 at 05:14 PMDid someone else noticed that Conor just interviewed writers that were baldheaded?
...and after this video I dont wanna meet G.Morrison here scares me like and reminds me off Vinnie Jones
Posted by Spooky on 05/02/08 at 08:36 PMOh! Fudge forgot Jamal Igle *fingersnap*
Posted by Spooky on 05/02/08 at 08:39 PM
