New Comics for 11/04/09 still don't know what time it is

Get to pulling this Wednesday's books, and then let us know what you're looking forward to most, what you're dropping, what others should be buying and anything you're thinking. Be heard, because we need you, iFanbase!

What are the iFanboys buying? Check it out here - Conor, Ron, Josh and Gordon the Intern.

And what about the rest of the staff? What are they buying? Dave, Jim, Paul, Mike, and Sonia.

After last week's monster week things quiet way down in the first week of November. This week I give Sweet Tooth one more chance to convince me that it wouldn't read 10x better in trade. The books I am most about are the long-awaited Stumptown #1 and The Mighty #10.

This week Ron has the Pick of the Week!

Bonus Question: It's day light savings time, but is the extra hour of sleep worth the sun setting one hour earlier?

ASSAULT ON NEW OLYMPUS! ASSAULT ON NEW OLYMPUS!

The beginning of a big event for Hercules starts this week! Everyone needs to jump on with this amazing event!

Also getting:

Deadpool Team-Up #899

Strange Tales #3

Sweet Tooth #3

Special Guest: Nova vol.5 "War of Kings"

BQ: My brain needs the sleep.

Posted by TheNextChampion on 11/02/09 at 03:28 PM

Very excited for XMen vs. Agents of Atlas (the first issue was fantastic, esp. the Chris Samnee art in the backup story), and Stumptown.  I've also really been liking the Iron Fist Immortal Weapons series, though I don't know who the creative team is on this issue.  Plus, the Cinderella-centric 'Fables' spinoff, which Paul pointed out to me not too long ago; I'm not a big 'Fables' fan but I do love the Fableverse Cinderella.

BQ: Totally not worth it.  I dont' like how dark it gets so early.

Posted by ohcaroline on 11/02/09 at 03:34 PM

BQ: Yes.

Posted by vadamowens on 11/02/09 at 03:34 PM

@ohcaroline: Hey if you want more AoA.....go read Incredible Hercules! :)

Posted by TheNextChampion on 11/02/09 at 03:35 PM

BQ: sort of, it sure helped getting to work this morning

Posted by RoiVampire on 11/02/09 at 03:37 PM

@TheNextChampion  I'm going to have to cave and do that, even though I'm way behind on Hercules.  The backups haven't started yet, have they?

Posted by ohcaroline on 11/02/09 at 03:37 PM

BQ: We are on Daylight savings now and its great. I finally get to see the sun when I leave for work.

Also if you want post your pull list to Twitter with the hash tag #ifanboylist

2 books this week. LIGHT week. Spider-man and Secret 6.

Posted by g0ofgnewt on 11/02/09 at 03:47 PM

Sweet Tooth #3

Captain America Reborn #4

Amazing Spider-Man #610

Ultimate Spider-Man #4

BQ - No, I hate it getting dark so early but that extra hour of sleep Saturday night was well timed and much needed, so this year I dealt with it.

Posted by DarthDuck on 11/02/09 at 03:48 PM

Anotehr large week for me.  Black Widow, both Boys books, Dr. Voodoo, Umtilmate Spiderman, Cderella and several more.

Daylight savings time is one of the most folish things ever concocted by humanity.

Posted by zombox on 11/02/09 at 03:55 PM

Batman Widening Gyre #3 (OF 6)
Cinderella From Fabletown With Love #1 (OF 6)
Gi Joe #11
Mighty #10
Star Wars Invasion #5 (OF 5)
Superman World Of New Krypton #9 (OF 12)
Sweet Tooth #3
Witchfinder In The Service Of Angels #5 (OF 5)

BQ: Daylight savings time is a massively wasteful exercise.  It is completely obsolete (as are time zones) and should be abandoned by the civilized world.  Tradition for tradition's sake sickens me.

Posted by stuclach on 11/02/09 at 03:56 PM

A welcomed small week this week - the last two have just been killer. Most looking forward to TWO issues of The Boys (MM origin story so far is best of the series), Reborn, the Spider-Man books, Cinderella mini, Aaron's AMAZING Ghost Riders mini, Stumptown, Sweet Tooth, Haunt (I liked the first issue), end of the Six-Gun War in Jonah Hex, Strange Tales, and the Lobo two-parter for Sam Keith goodness.

Probably not going to get the new Oz mini from Marvel - just wait for the trade because I think it'll read better that way. Still love Skottie Young's art, though.

One book I think a lot of you will enjoy is From The Ashes out from IDW by Bob Fingerman. It's on the last issue this week, but you should check out the eventual collection. Last issue, it just took a completely out of left field turn that totally (completely, totally) changed the meaning of the story, but in a good way, I think. It just changed the entire mood of the thing - it was something I hadn't seen in comics in a very, very long time. I'm hoping Fingerman can deliver on this in the final issue and am really looking forward to the conclusion.

BQ: I don't care either way, really. Spring is when it really hurts and that whole move one hour ahead thing. Just do away with the archaic idea.

Posted by Dan on 11/02/09 at 04:01 PM

It'll be Amazing Spider-Man, Superman: WONK, and Captain American Reborn. I'm dropping Sweet Tooth, but I think I'll take a chance of Stumptown.

BQ: Sleep is sleep. I'll take an extra nap if I have to.

Posted by BrianBaer on 11/02/09 at 04:06 PM

@ohcaroline: The backups start with this one-shot I believe.

I'm sure this is going to be reader friendly by the way. Pak and Van Lente are usually got at doing new story arcs to catch up on new readers.

Posted by TheNextChampion on 11/02/09 at 04:09 PM

Another big week. Time to look at a remortgage.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer #30
Captain America Reborn #4 (OF 6)
Cinderella From Fabletown With Love #1 (OF 6)
Doctor Voodoo Avenger Of Supernatural #2
Immortal Weapons #4 (OF 5)
Nova #31
Strange Tales #3 (OF 3)
Stumptown #1
Sweet Tooth #3
Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #4

BQ: No

Posted by Pompster on 11/02/09 at 04:15 PM

Looking forward to Assault on New Olympus, Cap Reborn and X-Men v. AoA.  Giving Haunt one more issue only because of Kirkman.

 BQ: hell yea..

Posted by 70namrepuS on 11/02/09 at 04:22 PM

Only two this week, Stumptown and Sweet Tooth.

 BQ:  A thousand times yes

Posted by Spoons on 11/02/09 at 04:25 PM

I had not heard anything about Stumptown before this, but I'm fairly excited about it now. Pretty light week besides that though. Picking up Sweet Tooth and Unknown: Devil Made Flesh.

Posted by therealsuperjosh on 11/02/09 at 04:28 PM

Stumptown.

BQ:Yes.

Posted by drakedangerz on 11/02/09 at 04:42 PM

I may give Assault on New Olympus a shot bc @nextchampion won't stop talking about it and spiderman is on the cover.

A lot of Number 1s that I may give a shot. My list stands as follows:
ASM, Assaut on New Olympus, Astonishing Xmen(every month I ask myself why), Batman Widening Gyre (First two books were solid), Captain America Reborn (something finally happened last issue), Deadpool teamup 899, Deathlok (fond memories from my childhood), Haunt (love the mcfarland art!), Psylocke (bc of the cover ;) and my love of all things xmen), Stumptown (bc it's greg rucka), Sweettooth 3 (hoping something actually happens) USM (because I love Bendis' spiderman!)

Posted by RocketRacoon on 11/02/09 at 04:44 PM

I will continue to hype the hell out of ASSAULT ON NEW OLYMPUS until everyone reads it.

Posted by TheNextChampion on 11/02/09 at 04:50 PM

It's going to be a great week with Stumptown, Cap Reborn and Assault on New Olympus, as well as a new Nova trade.  Can't wait.

BQ: Of course it's a little dark and depressing, but you've got to embrace the winter.  The cosy glow of home, open fires, winter coats and of course the holiday season around the corner.  Oh, and scarves, love me some scarves....

Posted by odare77 on 11/02/09 at 04:59 PM

I have 17 dollars or so in books at my LCS waiting for me so I'm glad I'm only getting Secret Six this week.  DEADSHOT feature should be cool.

BQ/ I could care less either way, I did take advantage of the sleep but I always adapt to whateverso whatever.

Posted by Reform on 11/02/09 at 05:07 PM

TNC is actually convincing me that maybe I should check out Assault on New Olympus...

Lite/Medium week for me.  Definitely getting WoNK, Sweet Tooth, Savage Dragon, Mighty, ASM, and there are still a few books I'm deciding on.

Posted by Slockhart on 11/02/09 at 05:39 PM

Forgot the BQ...

BQ: I'm from Indiana, so we didn't even do DST until a couple of years ago... boy do I hate it.

Posted by Slockhart on 11/02/09 at 05:42 PM

Buffy the Vampire Slayer #30

Ultimate Comics Spiderman #4

Vampirella: Second Coming #3

Sherlock Holmes Hc Vol 01

BQ: I love when its dark earlier!

Posted by Bryce31 on 11/02/09 at 06:53 PM

A small week.  Just 6 books!

Posted by Crippler on 11/02/09 at 07:07 PM

When you wake up at 3AM, yeah, yeah it is worth it!

Posted by JrSaldivar on 11/02/09 at 07:11 PM

Reasons to buy Incredible Hercules:

1) Fred Van Lente: Hercules

2) Jeff Parker: Agents of Atlas

Posted by ScorpionMasada on 11/02/09 at 07:12 PM

No it wwas not worth it.  Now a week of adjusting to the new time.

Matthew

Posted by mguy77 on 11/02/09 at 07:30 PM

ASM, The Mighty #10, Kevin Smith on Batman #3, House Of Mystery #19, & Herogasm finale.

If I can scrape up any extra dough, I wanna catch up on Milligan's Confidential arc and get the beginning of the new arc!  Cover looks crazy

World Of New Krypton is dropped.  Good riddance.

Secret Six is dropped, I'm about to sell my set on Ebay.

I'll tradewait Cinderella From Fabletown because I read everything from Fables in trade.  All Vertigo stuff is better in softcover except House Of Mystery for some reason.  I guess it's a mystery, huh?

Still waiting for volume five of The Boys!

Definitely not paying $6 for a LOBO comic!

BQ: Absolutely not.

Posted by robbydzwonar on 11/02/09 at 07:32 PM

3 books for me this week: Amazing Spider-Man, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Doom Patrol. Smallest week I've had in ummmmmmmm 10 years?

BQ: I find the whole thing ridiculous. Just leave the time alone!

Posted by JohnVFerrigno on 11/02/09 at 08:07 PM

Most looking forward to the Mighty and Sweet Tooth. I'll probably pick up Stumptown too.

BQ: No, but it sure beats the other one.

Posted by s1lentslayer on 11/02/09 at 08:44 PM

looks like a strong week for me:

absolution 3, sweet tooth 3, haunt 2, strange tales 3, stumptown 1.

bq: no

Posted by mansuper on 11/02/09 at 08:56 PM

Lots of good books this week.  I'm looking forward to it all.  I really wish I had the scratch for the Criminal Deluxe Edition, but such is life these days.

BQ: I'm ambivalent to Daylight Savings Time, but having grown up in Indiana, which used to have it's own time zone (thusly ignoring DST), it sometimes plays havoc with my sense of time and space.

Posted by Neb on 11/02/09 at 10:00 PM

Companies need to space out thie books more, I'm tired of really huge weeks followed by smaller ones.  Can't there just be four medium sized weeks?

Posted by Heroville on 11/02/09 at 10:20 PM

"I whole heartily endorse this product"

-Barack Obama stating his love for ASSAULT ON NEW OLYMPUS

Posted by TheNextChampion on 11/02/09 at 11:05 PM

@stuclach  I am intrigued. How could we do away with time zones? Should it be the same time in New York as in Seattle? That just seems crazy. When were time zones invented?

Posted by Andrew on 11/02/09 at 11:18 PM

The comics I'm getting this week are: Superman: W.O.N.K., Sweet Tooth, Ultimate Spider-Man, Greek Street, Stumptown(it seems like I've been waiting forever for this), Savage Dragon and the Usagi Yojimbo Yokai HC and Superman/Batman:Search For Kryptonite TPB.

BQ:I pretty much always have trouble getting to sleep, so it doesn't really matter to me.

Posted by WinTheWonderboy on 11/03/09 at 01:11 AM

Apparently there was a message left at the burial chamber for Ramses II

It states: "I'll go to my grave knowning I couldn't read ASSAULT ON NEW OLYMPUS by Fred Van Lente and Greg Pak." Weird.

Posted by TheNextChampion on 11/03/09 at 02:09 AM

Loads of cool stuff this week but mostly looking forward to SWEET TOOTH and STUMPTOWN!

Posted by deadspace on 11/03/09 at 08:24 AM

@WinTheWonderboy - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_zones Adopted by most of the world in the early 1900's.  They appear to exist essentially to make it easier for morons to understand when they can and can't call internationally (and other equally inane reasons).  Here are a couple of brief examples of people wanting to eliminate time zones and/or Daylight Savings Times: http://amitp.blogspot.com/2007/04/eliminate-time-zones.htmlhttp://therhetoric.net/2007/01/03/eliminate-the-worlds-timezones/http://www.greendaily.com/2008/11/21/obama-looks-to-axe-daylight-time-nyt-explains-why/

They just seem like a waste of energy.  Wouldn't it be nice if an airline could simply say "this plane leaves at 7:00pm" and you could simply look at your watch and not have to concern yourself with the local time zone and if they adhere to daylight savings time.

Posted by stuclach on 11/03/09 at 08:50 AM

ONly one book this week. Nova.

BQ: I didn't have that extra hour of sleep. I was working. Working while drunk, not good. Don't tell anyone. =p

Posted by excalipoor on 11/03/09 at 09:26 AM

Captain America Reborn #4 (OF 6)
Deathlok #1 (OF 7)
Jonah Hex #49
Mighty #10
Nova #31
X-Men Origins Iceman

BQ: DST is not worth it at all.  I now have to commute to and from work in the dark.

Posted by JesTr on 11/03/09 at 09:56 AM

Any body care about the deathlok or psylocke minis?

Posted by RocketRacoon on 11/03/09 at 11:42 AM

@RocketRacoon  I've got no interest in another mini written by Chris Yost.   I might have to check out the Iceman one-shot, though.

Posted by ohcaroline on 11/03/09 at 12:01 PM

Iceman One-Shot looks really good. The cover is also a great one by Phil Noto.

Posted by TheNextChampion on 11/03/09 at 12:02 PM

@RocketRacoon: I always liked Deathlok growing up so I'm checking it out.

@ohcaroline & @TNC: Iceman Origin looks good.

Posted by JesTr on 11/03/09 at 03:32 PM

Looking forward to The Mighty #10, Assault on New Olympus, and Stumptown #1.....picking up the Psylocke #1 if the backup story is in it.

BQ:  I lived with it for 28 years....who am I to say it's a dumb idea.  I know I hate getting out of work whenver it's dark as it's always been a safety issue.

Posted by roadcrew1 on 11/03/09 at 04:44 PM

Gimmie an A! !Gimmie a S! Gimmie another S! Another A!......

Posted by IroncladMerc on 11/03/09 at 06:02 PM

I'd say I'm most looking forward to: The Mighty, Age Of Reptiles #1, Sweet Tooth #3 and the conclusion to Sir Edward Grey Witchfinder.

Do you guys buy every comic book with individual sleeves?

I do and it's getting kind of expensive.

Posted by NathanNicdao on 11/05/09 at 12:02 AM

@NathanNicdao: I do not. How much does the store charge you?

Posted by conor on 11/05/09 at 12:03 AM

@conor: .50 cents in US Dollars  (Our currency is Peso)

Posted by NathanNicdao on 11/05/09 at 12:21 AM

@NathanNicdao: Yikes! That's expesive.

Posted by conor on 11/05/09 at 12:28 AM

@conor: it sort of prohibits me from reading them. Ugh..

But how could I sotre 'em if much of my stack is already in sleeves?

congrats on the yankee win. BTW..

Posted by NathanNicdao on 11/05/09 at 12:39 AM

@NathanNicdao: That is expensive. Before my lcs closed, he bagged and boarded all the books on his dime. It was a small store though, hence why it closed. DCBS charges like .12 cents which I think is reasonable.

Posted by 158hoff on 11/05/09 at 06:54 PM

Yeah. I moved to another store. and they actually have sweet tooth.

tnx btw
