Paul Walks to SDCC: The Adventure Begins from Paul Montgomery on Vimeo.
Tired of moping around in rainy Philadelphia, iFanboy staffer Paul Montgomery decides to walk to San Diego Comic-Con.

I can be your intern on this merry adventure! I have my own wheels!
Posted by DaveCarr on 07/23/09 at 03:12 PMAHH!! A Talkboy recorder! Awesome.
Great stuff Paul. Loved it. Might I also suggest you carry mace and a rape horn? Can't be too careful out on the road
Posted by drakedangerz on 07/23/09 at 03:12 PM"I forgot to bring Gold Bond" - BRILLIANT!!!
Posted by Dan on 07/23/09 at 03:23 PM@Paul If you're at all considering hitchhiking part of the way, you should try and get into a van, lean forward, and move your arms quickly back and forth. I've heard it feels like you're running at an incredible rate (D&D). On second thought, don't get into a van. Also if movies have taught us anything its placing a pin on a leaf on water will show you North; that may even be real. Looking forward to all the interesting characters you'll meet and road trip hijinks.
Posted by hbkhumanity on 07/23/09 at 03:23 PM...i kinda feel bad for paul
Posted by mikeandzod21 on 07/23/09 at 03:23 PMPaul, at 10 seconds into the video you use air quotes (and use them very poorly). Therefore, I stopped watching the video and if I ever meet you I will be forced to break four of your fingers.
Posted by Camden on 07/23/09 at 03:34 PM"Now I'm thinking...that they didn't account for timezones...so maybe I can make it there by Sunday."
I laughed aloud, sir. Brilliant.
Posted by OttoBott on 07/23/09 at 03:40 PMNice video. In the meantime, we can jive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WLsoxl_WiQ
Posted by chlop on 07/23/09 at 03:52 PMhaha nice
Posted by broderboy on 07/23/09 at 03:53 PMWait, is this the first installment of the new Blair Witch movie they've been talking about making?
Posted by akamuu on 07/23/09 at 03:59 PMThanks, I just got that crappy song out of my head, months after quitting a job that played it on their crappy radio station. Bahbah dahdah duhduhduhduh...
*shakes fist* Montgomery!!
Awesome and pitiful simultaneously.
Posted by stuclach on 07/23/09 at 04:19 PMoh man that was great. I am at home with the flu and a good laugh is exactly what i needed.
Posted by Sauceda on 07/23/09 at 04:27 PMBravo good sir.
I loved that bindle thing at the end and just stating your using a backpack. Also, I think I recognize what neighborhood you live in :)
Posted by TheNextChampion on 07/23/09 at 04:32 PMWouldn't moss on all sides of the tree mean you were at the South Pole? SERIOUSLY.
Posted by stuclach on 07/23/09 at 04:35 PMI can imagine Paul emerging in San Diego 3 Months later, looking all a shambles and falling to the ground infront of a ruined San Diego Convention Center screaming "YOU MANIACS! YOU BLEW IT UP!"
Posted by PraxJarvin on 07/23/09 at 05:17 PMI'm making pretty good time. Typing this from a Wendy's in West Philly.
Posted by PaulMontgomery on 07/23/09 at 05:21 PMCaulk the wagons and float!
Also, 1.) the blanket IS endearing, and 2.) I never realized the TalkBoy was so boringly colored. The purple TalkGirl is where it's at!
Posted by throughthebrush on 07/23/09 at 05:55 PMPaul, nice HOME ALONE 2 reference there. Maybe that Talkboy will get you out of a scrap involving the Wet Bandits. Also, BUNNICULA? It doesn't hold up. I just reread it myself three months ago. THE CELERY STALKS AT MIDNIGHT, however, is still brilliant.
Oh and I laughed out loud at several moments during this video. Well done, sir.
Posted by JeffR on 07/23/09 at 05:55 PMHaha great video.
Posted by Brian on 07/23/09 at 05:58 PMfunny stuff man
Posted by 2frog on 07/23/09 at 06:00 PM@JeffR - I am a huge fan of all the Bunnicula books, and Celery Stalks at Midnight is indeed one of the high points. That said, Bunnicula was lighter. So I packed that and Anathem.
Posted by PaulMontgomery on 07/23/09 at 06:03 PMOH man talk Boy...I still have that...and it still works
Posted by Jurassicalien on 07/23/09 at 06:05 PMI feel your pain, my friend.
My girlfriend's over at the Con as we speak, and she's texting me updates. Meanwhile I'm at work, pacing back and forth, cursing my infernal luck. And, living in Riverside, I have no excuse not to be there. (CURSES, SOLD OUT TICKETS!)
-J.
Posted by JamesSeals on 07/23/09 at 06:19 PMOutstanding as always sir.
Posted by rsmorley on 07/23/09 at 06:51 PM@Paul: What, was your copy of THE STAND loaned out to a friend or something?
Posted by JeffR on 07/23/09 at 06:54 PM"I'm thinking they didn't account for time zones...so maybe I can make it there by Sunday."
Hahahahaha. Fantastic.
Posted by kwisdumb on 07/23/09 at 06:56 PMA Talkboy recorder and Bunnicula?! Sir you packed part of my childhood into that backpack.
Yes you've mentioned the Gold Bond before...
Posted by jstump on 07/23/09 at 07:59 PMOh the Talkboy....bringing back so many memories when I was 4.
Mainly recording farts, but you know...
Posted by TheNextChampion on 07/23/09 at 08:28 PMWonder if I could cut down my transportation time with a razor scooter...
Posted by PaulMontgomery on 07/23/09 at 08:39 PM@ video: LOL
Posted by Animalvader1 on 07/23/09 at 08:52 PM@Paul-Segway!!
Posted by drakedangerz on 07/23/09 at 08:53 PMSo the grown-ups went off to Comic Con without all the kids. But at least we're being babysat by our cool, if slightly deranged, uncle.
Well done sir.
Posted by DarthDuck on 07/23/09 at 08:55 PM@Paul: Do you have chickens in your backyard? It looks like you have something set up for that. lol
Posted by TheNextChampion on 07/23/09 at 08:55 PMThe fencing is for the courier pigeons.
Posted by PaulMontgomery on 07/23/09 at 08:58 PM@Paul: Very bold choice. But I like the old school approach! Who needs iphones when a pigeon gets the job done?
Posted by TheNextChampion on 07/23/09 at 09:01 PMThis is really funny-can't wait for more.
Posted by gwiz on 07/23/09 at 09:11 PMSo Paul will be taking over the video show now. And we're cool with that.
Posted by josh on 07/23/09 at 09:12 PM"Good grief."
Posted by SteenAR on 07/23/09 at 09:50 PM@Josh - So are we.
Posted by stuclach on 07/23/09 at 10:00 PMSo... Paul is making a one-man sequel to the "Where the Wild Things Are" film that's coming out? For some reason this reminded me of that trailer. :-p
Posted by PraxJarvin on 07/23/09 at 10:23 PMThough Bunnicula and The Celery Stalks at Midnight were both great I prefered Nightmare at the Howliday Inn. Harold the Dog was one of my favorite characters from my childhood. And dont worry Paul, I didnt get nearly enough out of my Ranger Rick subscription either.
Posted by AlanRob on 07/23/09 at 11:30 PMPaul should do the mini's from now on. Let's have a revival!!
Posted by TheNextChampion on 07/23/09 at 11:38 PMThis is fantastic
Posted by Marie on 07/23/09 at 11:44 PMBunnicula!
This is brilliant.

Posted by therealsuperjosh on 07/24/09 at 03:38 AMThat was great. I hope we get to see more of these.
Posted by xebix on 07/24/09 at 09:46 AMPaul = Awesome
Posted by WonderAli on 07/24/09 at 02:39 PMExcellent video, Pmoney. Bunnicula and Ranger Rick references in one video is unbelievable and awesome.
Posted by Churchill on 07/24/09 at 02:56 PMThat was Awesome!!!:) and i went one of those Charlie Brown wrist bands.
Posted by WinTheWonderboy on 07/24/09 at 08:30 PMDude... that was funny. Caught myself laughing out loud at least twice!
"There is moss on all sides... That must mean we are at the north pole" hahaha
Posted by fingaz on 07/29/09 at 12:54 AM
