You got your Batman in my Superman!
You got your Superman in my--
With the debut of Green Lantern: First Flight only weeks away, DC has released a trailer for their next direct-to-video feature, an adaptation of Superman/Batman: Public Enemies by Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness.
U.S. President Lex Luthor declares a bounty on Batman and Superman, leading to fisticuffs, betrayal, and mecha mayhem.
This one is scripted by Stan Berkowitz a mainstay of the DC Animated universe. He wrote the script for Justice League: New Frontier and worked on both the Batman and Superman animated series, including the character team-ups.
The individual Batman and Superman features seem to be the hottest sellers, so this title seems like a smart move. Hopefully it will live up to the better features in the DC Animation lineup (which don't happen to have Superman or Batman in the title).
What say you, iFanbase?

Cool! They did a pretty good job of recreating McGuiness's style in the character designs.
Posted by sythspawn on 05/20/09 at 08:47 AMLooks pretty good! But that huge Supes/Bats robot looks just as ridiculas as it did in the comic.
Posted by sullivan85 on 05/20/09 at 08:47 AMI haven't read thiscomic, and The Batman Superman Movie sucked so it doesn't look good. Add to that giant robot fight and having too many characters and it doesn't look good.
Posted by chlop on 05/20/09 at 08:56 AMI'll watch it, for sure. Let's hope the Black Manta voice is still quality.
Posted by JeffR on 05/20/09 at 09:21 AMif they can improve on the original story it will be great. plus it gives alot of chances for superman and batman to kick the crap out of every villain in the dcu
Posted by cyberauron on 05/20/09 at 09:36 AMi hope it haves the same voice actors from the animated series.
Posted by bigyanks on 05/20/09 at 09:37 AMSweet!! So glad they kept the feel of McGuinness's style. Really looking forward to this DVD!
Posted by DarthDuck on 05/20/09 at 09:54 AMWow, they didn't even mention New Frontier in those "from the people who brought you" bits.
Posted by josh on 05/20/09 at 09:54 AMNEW FRONTIER was, from what I understand, the least popular film in terms of sales.
Posted by conor on 05/20/09 at 09:57 AMI generally buy all of these DC animated features. This, I will rent.
Posted by PaulMontgomery on 05/20/09 at 09:58 AMYeah, I knew that. I think I was just remarking on the confirmation of that here.
Posted by josh on 05/20/09 at 09:59 AMI must also add that this looks kick-ass! I just signed up in Amazon to be alerted to when I can pre-order it!
Posted by conor on 05/20/09 at 10:02 AMThis looks cool. I can't remember what the arc was about for the life of me but I guess watching this DVD will remind me.
Posted by robbydzwonar on 05/20/09 at 10:02 AMWonder if Cir-El will still be in this. I remember there being Superman and Batman family elements in the book, but there's no evidence here. The inclusion of Cir-El would probably be more confusing than worthwhile.
Posted by PaulMontgomery on 05/20/09 at 10:11 AMAwesome, I'll be Netflixing this for sure.
Posted by kwisdumb on 05/20/09 at 10:12 AMvery very nice. I would LOVE a green arrow animated film
Posted by Aquaman on 05/20/09 at 10:13 AMi like the look of this movie... kudos on keeping the mcguinness touch.
Posted by gat0rl1vebeatz on 05/20/09 at 10:29 AMI think the McGuinness look works well. Probably more excited for this one than the GL movie, which I'm pretty stoked for anyway.
I'm stunned that New Frontier is the worst-selling title - for me, it's the best movie so far. Even the Justice League episodes in the special features were among the best.
Posted by Dan on 05/20/09 at 10:33 AMMust... purchase... now.
Good thing I kept that Cosmic Treadmill after cleaning out the garage.
Posted by CaseyJustice on 05/20/09 at 10:50 AMThe art looks amazing. Glad to see McGuiness' work translate so well. I'll at it to Netflix tonight
Posted by drakedangerz on 05/20/09 at 12:01 PM"This video has been removed becuase of copyright infiringement of Warner Bros."
Back in my day,it was called advertisement.
Posted by muddi900 on 05/20/09 at 12:31 PM@muddi900: And FREE advertising at that! Heck, there are a few blogs out there linked to this YouTube trailer and they were all positive about the fact that they're looking forward to this movie. Bad move.
Posted by JeffR on 05/20/09 at 12:40 PMSPOILER (Can it be a spoiler if the book is 3ish years old)
I'm afraid the half Batman/half Superman rocket that they use at the end of the arc is going to look even more ridiculous on screen. I think I glimpsed it in the trailer. Hopefully, it won't look as bad as I am assuming it will.
Posted by stuclach on 05/20/09 at 02:21 PMHooray! Video is no longer available!
Posted by TheNextChampion on 05/20/09 at 02:49 PMThere is no such thing as bad publicity.
Posted by rdkidd on 05/20/09 at 04:51 PMvery criptic, white text on a black background saying "this video is no longer available due to a copy right claim by Warner Bros. Entertainment."
WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!
Posted by edward on 05/20/09 at 06:09 PMFor those unlucky few who didn't get to see the trailer, here's a mirror for it: http://tiny.cc/mTKSm
Now hail me with praise!

Looks pretty cool i'll see it when it come out.
Posted by Pilled on 05/20/09 at 10:19 PMSuper excited, this was I think the first "new" comic arc I ever read (someone gave me all the issues in like 04) and I really like the story. The animation wasn't quite as McGuinis-e as I thought it would be, but it still looks good. But what ever happened to the Judas Cotract?
Posted by Gabe on 05/20/09 at 11:07 PMIMDB says Kevin Conroy is the voice of Batman. I hope it's true, in spite of the car wreck that Gotham Knight was. He rocks. It'd be great to get Hearn back as Superman as well.
Posted by AndyLawler on 05/20/09 at 11:11 PM@rockleerules: Thank you very much for that link. Also to you Pilled
It looks good....I will admit whoever the animators are did an amazing job mimicking Ed McGuiness. But with no diaologue and very vague fighting shots in this...I cant say this is gonna be amazing.
But this was a favorite Jeph Loeb story of mine. One of the last things Loeb did fantastic work before he went all shitty and Ultimates 3 on us.
Posted by TheNextChampion on 05/20/09 at 11:26 PMthat looks so awesome!!!!!!!
Posted by rayclark on 05/21/09 at 01:09 AMwow this looks freakin sweet!
Posted by smeeeeee on 05/21/09 at 02:57 AMBum. Bum. Bum. BumBumBUM!

Posted by muddi900 on 05/21/09 at 08:44 AMcatman .............yessssssssssssssssss
Posted by jets4life242 on 05/21/09 at 01:48 PMKevin Conroy is back bitches! I missed him so much.
Also I have to say that so far New Frontier is one of my least favorites. I'll be honest I wasn't excited from the get go as it's porbably one of my favortie works of all time. I had high standards.
Posted by jstump on 05/22/09 at 09:53 PMThis looks great. I'm surprised New Frontier didn't sell as well as some of the others, I thought it was much better than say Superman: Doomsday.
Posted by Brian on 05/23/09 at 03:19 PMOf course Superman: Doomsday had the sales advantage of being titled Superman: Doomsday.
I think this looks really cool aesthetically. I've never read the story though, so I can't speak on that. I love the DC Animated movies though, I'm on board with everything they do for the forseeable future.
The movies have all felt very different, and have been worlds better than Marvels animated movies.
Posted by savinglala on 05/24/09 at 10:00 PMI heart Captain Atom.
Posted by ultimatehoratio on 05/24/09 at 11:22 PM

OK that just looks crazy awesome. I always thought McGuinness's style would look great in motion and apparently I wasn't wrong.
