Get to pulling this Wednesday's books, and then let us know what you're looking forward to most, what you're dropping, what others should be buying and anything you're thinking.  Be heard, because we need you, iFanbase!

What are the iFanboys buying? Check it out here - Conor, Ron, Josh and Gordon the Intern.

This week I'm really excited for Final Crisis #3 and a new Criminal story arc.  I'm probably most excited for the next volume of DMZ, mostly because it feels like Vol. 4 just came out.  And for you Terry Moore fans, there's a double dose of him this week with Echo #5 and Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane Vol. 2 #1!

This week I have the Pick of the Week!

Bonus Question:
Now that comic book movie season is over, what's the next movie release you are most looking forward to?

Comments

This is a really Sllllloooooowwww week for me. Only 3 pulls! Final Crisis, Detective Comics, and Avenger/Invaders for me. Just nothing else is making me jump out to get. Sure Criminal, DMZ, Echo, and others you mention are out too....But I dont pick them up so for me, it's a boring week.

For films coming out after this wave of comic films....I'd say Quantum of Solace is the one I am looking forward to the most. Casino Royale was such a fucking good Bond film, it makes me wonder if this franchise will ever die. But if this film is just as entertaining as the first Craig film, then this will be fantastic. Also, the Curious Case of Benjamin Button looks good; it's about a man born as a 90 year old man and reverting to a baby at the end of his life. Looks interesting.

Oh and Punisher: War Zone and The Spirit. Only because after seeing the trailers for them; they look like they will win 'Worst film of the year' right before the year is over...God Spirit looks fucking awful.

Wow, gigantic week for me...9 books! Looking forward to a lot...Buffy, DMZ, Final Crisis, and Ultimate Origins. It's going to be a good week:)

I'm most looking forward to Invincible Iron Man & a new arc of Criminal.  I'm also intrigued by Manhunter -- I just caught up with the current arc and I'm not sure what's going on but it's interesting -- and I'm going to have to try NYX if only because Marjorie Liu's previous contribution to the Marvel universe was a tie-in novel where the X-men were all body swapped so that they were different races and genders.  I'm on the fence about whether I'm going to keep reading "Eternals," and this is definitely a make-or-break week for 'Cable.'  After a first arc where absolutely nothing of significance happened, this is going to be a crossover in which, theoretically, things will start to happen.  We shall see.

BQ: The only movie I could actually think of, between now and Watchmen, was 'Quantum of Solace,' so I suppose that's the answer.  Though when I looked it up, I realized the new Harry Potter is in the same month, and I've really enjoyed the direction of the last few movies, so I bet that will be good.

Posted by ohcaroline on 08/04/08 at 05:52 PM

Criminal!  Final Crisis! Hawkman by Starlin!  Buffy!

BQ: The Brothers Bloom.

Posted by PaulMontgomery on 08/04/08 at 06:04 PM

Grim week. Just the DMZ and Runes of Ragnan trades for me.

BQ: Pineapple Express

Posted by JFernandes on 08/04/08 at 06:15 PM

I've got a great stack to pick up this week, with some long lost titles showing up with new issues of The Killer and Special Forces!

Detective #847

Invincible Iron Man #4

Criminal 2 #4

Terry Moore's Echo #5

Boys #21

DMZ Vol.5

Killer #7

Special Forces #3

Posted by DavidB on 08/04/08 at 06:19 PM

Apart from the Final Crisis hullabulloo, its gotta be Spiderman loves Mary-Jane. What a team on a FUN title!

Patsy Walker:Hellcat is also intriguing. And the Sword. Looks like its female protagonist week for my stack.

BQ: The Day the Earth Stood Still is still a long way off... so I have to apologize as I say this, but of the upcoming crop of movies, House Bunny looks damn funny

Posted by BatStewie on 08/04/08 at 06:25 PM

Another slow week with only Invincible Iron Man #4, Transformers Movie Prequel #2 (this is great stuff out of the UK) and Garth Ennis's Crossed #0.

BQ: Pineapple Express

Posted by comicdork37 on 08/04/08 at 06:30 PM

Wow, BIG week for me, which is actually pretty welcome as I only got 2 books last week. 8 books: Buffy #17, Detective Comics #847, Robin #176, Nightwing #147, Final Crisis #3, Spike #2, Echo #5 and the DMZ TPB. Most looking forward to Nightwing, hands down.

BQ: Watchmen's the easy answer, but there's few in between now and then that look cool. Quantum of Solace looks great, and Tropic Thunder looks funny as hell. But I think the next film that's a must-see for me will be Harry Potter.

Posted by Eyun on 08/04/08 at 06:35 PM

Mostly DC for me this week.  Looking forward to all of the Bat family books, and I'm hoping Final Crisis will finally start to click with me with this issue. Maybe it's just me but it feels like these summer events have been going on forever already and they're barely halfway through if that.

BQ: Clone Wars.

Posted by adrian on 08/04/08 at 06:35 PM

8 books this week - not bad

Always anticipate the batman stuff the most.  DC, Nightwing, & Robin in one week!! YAY!! Final Crisis.  I'm feeling like I need to re-read 1 and 2 before I pick up 3.

BQ: Clone Wars and Watchmen

Posted by Dez on 08/04/08 at 07:32 PM

Bonus first: Whiteout

Looking forward to DMV trade. Reading in trades, ergo it's all new to me. Dreading but getting anyway  - much like Ron and Flash - the new Authority series.

Posted by RobAbsten on 08/04/08 at 07:38 PM

What a strange grouping of books. Thank heaven I actually like all of them...

Avengers Invaders #4 (OF 12)
Buffy The Vampire Slayer #17
Invincible Iron Man #4
Secret Invasion Front Line #2 (OF 5)
Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane Season 2 #1 (OF 5)
Terry Moores Echo #5
Twelve #7 (OF 12)

BQ: Dunno; Quantum of Solace, maybe?

Posted by Diabhol on 08/04/08 at 07:45 PM

Final Crisis, Criminal, and Storming Paradise (alternate-history WWII story about invading Japan by Chuck Dixon) are my most looked-forward-to books this week. I'm also curious about the Nightwing RIP tie-in, and have decided to start picking up Trinity. I've read the first five issues thus far and am really enjoying it thus far.

BQ: Quantum of Solace, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Posted by Paradiddle on 08/04/08 at 07:51 PM

Criminal is coming off of an arc that was maybe the best comic arc of all time.

So yeah, that.

Posted by SixGun on 08/04/08 at 08:04 PM

Man there are plenty of books I'm excited for... Criminal, Detective, Final Crisis, Sword, & Echo...

B.Q. Pineapple Express & Quantam Solace

B.Q.  Burn After Reading

Posted by brandmed on 08/04/08 at 08:37 PM

Buffy The Vampire Slayer #17

Criminal 2 #4

Final Crisis #3 (OF 7)

Terry Moores Echo #5

B Q: Hamlet 2, Quantum of solace,

Burn After Reading, Choke,

Defiance, Zack and Miri Make a Porno are all on my list of movies to see in the next few. Google any of them if you havn't heard.

Posted by lukehopkins on 08/04/08 at 08:45 PM

18 books for me - which is rapidly becoming the norm.  Glad to see Hawkman making a resurgence.  Hawkman's always been one of my favorites, but I wish they'd get him off Thanagar and back into the mainstream DCU.  As much as I love Power Girl, he really needs to be permanent chairman of the JSA.

I'm also looking forward to Final Crisis, Batman, Hellcat and The Twelve.

BQ: Not being much of a movie goer, I still have plenty of superhero movies to catch before they leave theatres.  I don't have a clue what's coming up in the future.

Posted by NJBaritone on 08/04/08 at 09:21 PM

Ten books... nothing too overly overwhelming... New Final Crisis, and I'm excited to see what happens in Spider-man loves Mary Jane... let's see how that happens... Oh! And Buffy! Heck la!

BQ: Zack and Miri Make a Porno... I saw a preview clip at Comic-Con, and there's a certain cameo by a star of a comic book movie that is just oh so fantastic...

Posted by GungaDin on 08/04/08 at 09:24 PM

This is a great week, excited for everything on my list, especially Final Crisis and Criminal...and some classic horror collections of Creepy and House of Secrets.

BQ: Choke...and then later in the year, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Posted by PV on 08/04/08 at 09:36 PM

One book?  The Boys is the only book I have this week?  Oh, that means this is the calm before the storm.

BQ: Death Race...yeah, don't give me any grief because all of you know deep down it'll be awesome.

Posted by BetaRayRyan on 08/04/08 at 10:14 PM

Thor's making an appearance in Hulk #5. Really hoping he kicks Red Hulk's ass and sends him packin - the new series has just been so very "meh". The Hulk is really Pak's thing right now and the book misses him greatly. Be interesting to see if after Red Hulk's been disposed of if Hulk gets involved in Secret Invasion. FACE would like that very much.

Final Crisis is definitely worth my while - just reading the synopsis wears me out.

and..  is this RIP crossover week or what? Nightwing, Robin and DC.

BQ: Nothing. Wish I could look forward to Punisher War Zone.

Posted by FACE on 08/04/08 at 10:51 PM

just checked out some the Loeb "Tuesday Q&A" and Rulk (<--red hulk) isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

PAK-MAN come back!!!!

Posted by FACE on 08/04/08 at 11:06 PM

I'm really looking forward to this week!  Final Crisis tops my list, but a new Manhunter, Criminal, and DMZ trade make this kid happy.

BQ: Pineapple Express, Clone Wars, and Quantum of Solace (that trailer is so awesome)

Posted by Neb on 08/04/08 at 11:09 PM

Maybe Buffy...? NYX? (God help me) Venom...?

BQ: uh-oh. I'm not looking forward to anything.... wait! Harry Potter, something something!

Or Pineapple Express.

Posted by Jimski on 08/05/08 at 01:36 AM

I'm buying a lot of books this week, yet I'm not too excited about many of them. Buffy TVS is probably tops on my list, as that is consistantly awesome. Also, The Crossed #0 comes out, and I'm interested by that.

BQ: Watchmen?

Posted by JohnVFerrigno on 08/05/08 at 05:19 AM

All DC this week- Final Crisis #3, Detective Comics #847, Robin #176, Nightwing #147, Jonah Hex #34.  Three Bat-books in one week makes me smile.

BQ- Quantum of Solace. Last movie fucking ruled and this should be no different.  They have reignited my love of James Bond.  On the lighter side Pineapple Express.  No to Clone Wars, George Lucas raped enough of my money away with those prequels.  I'll watch it if it falls off a truck *wink wink*.

Posted by Kory on 08/05/08 at 05:22 AM

Final Crisis, the RIP tie-in's, Garth Ennis' Crossed, and just more of Terry Moore.

BQ - Fincher's Benjamin Button, Rian Johnson's The Borthers Bloom, and Coens' Burn After Reading

Posted by squeakjones on 08/05/08 at 06:47 AM

Final Crisis, Ultimate Origins, Spike: AtF, Amory Wars, and Crossed. pretty good week for me, not too much, but some good titles.

BQ: For the rest of this month anyway, I'd have to go with Bottle Shock, Tropic Thunder, and Traitor.

Posted by jerichobp on 08/05/08 at 08:32 AM

Ten books for me, which is about average. Whenever Criminal comes out, everything else takes a back seat, but I'm also amped for Final Crisis, Nightwing & my new favourite book (after reading only two isses, but I'm catching up on trades) Manhunter!

BQ - I'd really love to see a movie about a chimp & a midget who run a private detective agency, and wear matching trench coats & fedoras when ever they go on cases. Thier trademark would be pulling the old switcheroo (because they look so similar in thier outfits) to solve the big cases. But, until they make this flick -- probably Clone Wars.

Posted by WadeWilson on 08/05/08 at 10:35 AM

The new DMZ trade is the only thing that matters to me this week.

BQ:  Not to excited by any of the movies I've heard about, but I am sure there is one or two I haven't heard about that deserve excitement.

Posted by mistersizzle on 08/05/08 at 02:27 PM

I can't really get excited about too much this week. I'm so hooked on JSA and Invincible that everything else is kinda "meh" in comparison. I want to jump into the batman R.I.P. stuff but it's too daunting, same thing with trinity.

BQ: Pineapple express...seth rogen can do no wrong

Posted by economypear on 08/05/08 at 03:15 PM

This is probably my first week ever buying more DC books than Marvel.  I'm afraid that I'm slowly changing sides.  What's wrong with me.  Final Crisis, Robin, Nightwing, Rest and Ulimate Origins.

BQ: Probably Pineapple Express.  I dunno though.  Everytime I see an ad for it I think, "That movie looks stupid" then the next time I see one I think "That movie looks great!"  I'm quite confused.

Posted by Anson17 on 08/05/08 at 04:17 PM

Ohh!  My friend just pointed out that the King-Size Spider-Man summer spectacular has a story by Paul Tobin & Colleen Coover, so any fans of Marvel Adventures or of Coover's backup stories in X-men: First Class should check that one out, too.

Posted by ohcaroline on 08/05/08 at 04:45 PM

Most looking forward to The Twelve and The Sword this week. BQ; I'm most looking forward to seeking The Dark Knight in IMAX. Also, the new Coen Brothers movie looks pretty funny.

Posted by ScottB on 08/05/08 at 07:06 PM

I'm eagerly anticipating 'House of Mystery' #4. Each of the three issues released so far has been better than the last.

BQ: little indie film called 'Watchmen'

Posted by Aerodynamics on 08/05/08 at 07:08 PM

Echo and Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane are the only comic books I care about this week. No even Final Crisis #3 can steal my anticipation for 'SM <3 MJ #1'.  It is the book I waited my whole life for.

(But I'm totally getting FC #3 as well. Obviously.)

Posted by Labor on 08/06/08 at 11:17 AM

Apparently Archaia Studio Press is back in business.  I was happy to pick up Okko: Cycle of Earth #1 (loved Cycle of Water) and Titanium Rain which looks pretty unique

Posted by cutty on 08/06/08 at 08:41 PM

Dammit! couldn't get my books today.  Hopefully my shop still has FC #3 tomorrow.
