X-Men Return Of Magik
At long last, Magik is returning to the Marvel Universe! But in what form will she return, and to whom will she owe her allegiance? In a touching tale of death and acceptance originally presented in X-MEN UNLIMITED #13, the X-Man Colossus continues to mourn the loss of his beloved sister, the telepathic mutant mystic known as Magik. Meanwhile, in a story from NEW X-MEN #37, Magik's origin is explored - and her former master, the demon-lord Belasco returns! Fighting his way through hostile terrain and vicious demon hordes, Belasco will stop at nothing to wrest control of Limbo. But the evil sorceress standing in his way bears a striking resemblance to his former protégé. And finally, from X-MEN: DIVIDED WE STAND #2, Magik has indeed returned - but she's trapped in Limbo, a slave to Belasco! Illyana yearns for her freedom and family, but she must find the lost pieces of her soul, the bloodstones, if she is to escape and defeat Belasco once and for all!

could be important for inferno II... but probably just a waste of my 4 bucks..
Posted by DocHess on 09/03/08 at 12:03 AMAll I know is that when this was announced at whatever con it was, the standing room only crowd went BANANAS. Shockingly low number of pulls based on that.
Posted by conor on 09/03/08 at 12:22 AMI'm a liiitle confused...this is a one-shot right? Anywho, yeah Magik is a pretty rad character...but again...Marvel with the $3.99'ers...it's killing me.
Posted by Foureyes on 09/03/08 at 04:03 AMI still dont understand why she is popular...Okay she uses magic and is related to Colossus...what else is there to her?
I'm not saying I wont pick it up, it could be a decent read at my LCS, I'm just curious on why (like conor stated) everyone went so crazy when it was annouced she was returning.
Posted by TheNextChampion on 09/03/08 at 10:19 AMI love Magik, but this is all reprints. I have all of these issue except one. I'm not paying 3.99 for one story and a new cover. Really looking forward to Infernus!!! And I loved Magick.
Posted by zattaric on 09/03/08 at 09:08 PMYeah, I'm pretty sure people aren't realizing that this is just a book of reprints.
Posted by goat77 on 09/04/08 at 10:16 AMI stopped reading comics after Inferno just because they took her out of the action. I'm really looking forward to her return. That said, $3.99 is insane for reprints.
Posted by Kehinde on 09/04/08 at 01:59 PMYup didn't know it was reprints, flipped through and dropped it.
Posted by CAM on 09/04/08 at 03:25 PMI really like all these stories -- and, as a way for Marvel to remind people of Magik, nd who she is, this makes sense. That said -- I like the stories, but they are all reprints. Not even a smidge of a six-page things to get us going. Low blow, Marvel.
Posted by resolute on 09/04/08 at 05:57 PMSadly, I didn't pay enough attention to this until I'd bought it and got home to discover what the solicitations would have told me - that it's all material that I already own and have read. Still, all good stories for those who haven't read them, and a fair bit of content for 3.99, but a waste of my money nonetheless.
Posted by rwpos on 09/04/08 at 11:50 PMDoes anyone know, are the old New Mutants issues (circa #1 - #30) collected anywhere?
Posted by patio on 09/06/08 at 02:14 AMThe old New Mutants stuff is collected in recent trade paperbacks called New Mutants Classic. Three volumes out so far.

I got this because I think the cover is beautiful and I only had one of the three stories. I thought the stories were pretty strong. They left me a little confused about how she came back to life. Blindfold just basically said that she just did. I didn't read any Young X-Men, is there a better story of how she came back. I'm jazzed for Infernus now.
Posted by NeoApocalypse on 09/06/08 at 04:36 AMThe return of Magik was told in New X-Men (Quest for Magik, #37-41), and was pretty enjoyable (in my opinion). As for how she returns, her old tormentor from Limbo, Belasco, uses magic to conjur her back to life (more or less). She doesn't appear to be all there and her motivations are changed from her original character, so I think that we should expect her to behave more as a villain, or to at least be more on the dark side.

I am seriously not trying to sound like a smart ass here but who besides the 12 pulls at the time of my writing this was chomping at the bit for Magik to come back? I never knew she had a fanbase enough to ressurect her after almost 20 years.
