X-Men Magneto Testament #1 (OF 5)
Today, the whole world knows him as Magneto, the most radical champion of mutant rights that mankind has ever seen. But in 1935, he was just another schoolboy -- who happened to be Jewish in Nazi Germany. The definitive origin story of one of Marvel's greatest icons begins with a silver chain and a crush on a girl -- and quickly turns into a harrowing struggle for survival against the inexorable machinery of Hitler's Final Solution. From "X-Men: Phoenix-Endsong" writer Greg Pak and award-winning artist Carmine Di Giandomenico.

Greg Pak is actually the reason I am getting this. Planet Hulk was fantastic. And I think if he had control of World War Hulk it wouldn't have been poop.
Posted by Roblaw on 09/09/08 at 12:09 AMThis will probably suck but the cover is sweet.
Posted by rift1128 on 09/09/08 at 10:14 AMSee I only got through half of Planet Hulk and it just didn't do it for me. I've been meaning to give it another shot but have yet to get around to it.
Posted by Anson17 on 09/09/08 at 04:14 PMI've never read or seen anything X-Men in my life. I've never even heard of this Magneto dude before. So why am I interested in this comic? I wonder if I could just pick it up and read it without knowing anything...
Posted by deadspace on 09/10/08 at 08:52 PMHoly Crap was this ever good! this could quite possibly be my POW
Posted by mikegraham6 on 09/10/08 at 08:55 PMyea this was really impressive. I did not expect something like this when I opened it.
Posted by Kimbo on 09/11/08 at 05:51 PMSo I ended up getting it. Really enjoyed it! It'll be good to see how this develops.
Posted by deadspace on 09/11/08 at 06:40 PMLate picking this up. Excellent book.
Posted by WetWork on 09/17/08 at 10:08 PMColor me surprise. I'm a huge fan of Magneto but not a particular fan of Greg Pak. He's very hit-or-miss for me (usually leaning more towards the miss end of the spectrum) but I had to pick this up because the cover is so freaking gorgeous. And the story...well, it made me cry. Or at least get a little sniffly. Greg Pak told a good story and the art was excellent. It makes me more kindly disposed towards Mr. Pak when reading future comics.

I'm really excited for this, but a bit nervous that Pak is the writer. His stuff just doesn't gel with me.
