I am on the fence of picking this up. I got it last month and it didn't really grab me. Of course, I have not been reading any Ultimate books asside from the Ultimate X-Men Vol. 1 hardcover.
Posted by xebix on 07/08/08 at 09:45 PMI like this book too, Kimbo. It's cool I'm not the only one, lol.
Posted by WadeWilson on 07/08/08 at 11:12 PMThis book is great, the idea is new, innovative and true to the spirit of the Ultimate Universe. I know there are haters out there of the Ultimate books, and I know that only USM has delivered on a regular basis. That being said, UXM #94 saw a creative team change and the last two issues have been nothing short of amazing. The art is good, the writing is even better and it gave the readers an actually significant moment when (spoiler) Cyclops injects the Banshee to save Dazzler. The origins book is cool, loved the first two issues and can't wait to see where we end up. I can't express enough how awesome it is to have a mini-series cover the whole universe and actually TELL a story while the ongoing series (USM, UFF, UXM and Ultimates) can move forward with continuity and don't have to pander to a summer blockbuster ( more often lackluster ) event.
Posted by yyzKyle on 07/09/08 at 06:39 AMI dunno that im that inot it yet. The first issue was a solid start but this issue needs to pick it up. Other than Ultimate Spider man and the just finished Ultimate Human, the Ultimate Universe is failing big time. I hope this series starts helping them although with it leading into the Loeb penned Ultimatum it probably will do nothing.
Posted by rift1128 on 07/09/08 at 08:50 AM@yyzKyle, I absolutely agree with you on everything except Ult. X-Men. The last two issues were terrible.
Posted by ActualButt on 07/09/08 at 01:42 PMI liked the first one enough to come back.
Posted by AlexG on 07/09/08 at 02:14 PMI didn't really dig the first issue but I'm picking this up to give it chance numero dos.
Posted by leland222 on 07/10/08 at 04:46 AMI like them both so far they are interesting i just hope they are getting to a point, and not just giving me a history lesson in Marvel ONLY!
Posted by sscurfew on 07/10/08 at 05:20 PMI really liked this issue. I don't know if I'm the minority but I am a sucker for origin stories so this was right up my alley.
Posted by s1lentslayer on 07/10/08 at 10:30 PMNice bounceback in form...
Posted by WilliamKScurryJr on 07/10/08 at 11:28 PMBig improvement over the first.
Posted by UMFskibum on 07/11/08 at 07:29 AMGood story. Can't wait to see where they take the Ultimate universe all together.
Posted by thebouv on 07/11/08 at 10:44 AMYup, this was some good shit. nice to see some 'real' Ultimate Cap again.
Posted by Rooney on 07/11/08 at 06:37 PMIt was great to see Captain America again, he has not been relevant in Ultimates Season 3 under Loeb, and Season 2 was so long ago that I really have missed him.
If Ultimatum is going to bring about the end of the Ulitiverse than I can live with that, I just hope the Quesada has learned that a reboot with our favorite characters in a universe where events matter, and continuity can and will be honored is a good thing. They gave the Ultimate Universe 8 years (and probably closer to 10 by the time everything wraps up) so I say go for it, reboot the who damn thing again.
Posted by yyzKyle on 07/14/08 at 09:45 AMI've liked both issues so far and will pick up the rest of the series to see how it pans out.
Did anyone else think the robot with the red eye might be the Ultimate Watcher?
