My five year old saw the promotional calendar/poster for this and now there is no way out. I have to get this and read it to him. Or he will hate me forever.
Posted by BatStewie on 09/02/08 at 05:49 PMThis is going to be awesome! Stop being so serious all the time, everybody. Am I the only one who remembers that sometimes comics are supposed to be FUN!?!?!?!!?
Posted by JohnVFerrigno on 09/02/08 at 06:42 PMYes I agrre with you comics ahave to be fun (sometimes).
Posted by Guardedmarman on 09/02/08 at 07:06 PMas long as this isn't look its "super hero" but he's a monkey the hole time a will get the rest of them
Posted by chrs7637 on 09/02/08 at 07:12 PMI think this just might be my pick of the week and I haven't even read it yet.
Question: I get everyone's a different species of simian so which species is Iron Man I wonder?
Posted by Kimbo on 09/02/08 at 07:36 PMI'm going to call Iron Man as an orangutan.
I'm real happy that Marvel read JLApe and all, but unless I get a full book by Art Adams with apes, not goin' for it. A man's got to have some ape standards.
Posted by NeoApocalypse on 09/02/08 at 07:42 PMThere's so much hype in the description - which is not a good sign. I'll flip through it, and if the art looks good, i'll probably pick it up.
Posted by AdamZ on 09/02/08 at 07:57 PMI'm sorry, I'm all for fun in a comic. I dont want to think of myself as a dictator when it comes to my books. But seriously, there is no reason for me to pick it up....Look at the description! I'm already tired of the monkey puns and the issue hasnt even come out yet. Who cares about a universe full of monkey's? It's going to be absolute garbage....Having said that, I'm sure this will be a big hit and I'll be seeing the trades for this crap all over my store.
Sometimes I hate the industry....
Posted by TheNextChampion on 09/02/08 at 08:23 PMEven though I am getting this if it is like the little story in the spiderman special then I will drop it.
Posted by Guardedmarman on 09/02/08 at 09:38 PMI wasn't planning to read this, but I got interested when I heard that the (regular marvel) Gibbon would play a big role in this. This is a ridiculous idea. The concept is so stupid and it's so clearly designed to be the next marvel zombies (which it won't be). it is dumb attempt to make some money. But that doesn't necessisarly mean it won't be an awesome book. Hence, I'll give it a try.
Posted by NealAppeal on 09/02/08 at 10:25 PMWhen you've seen a feces-flinging super-powered monkey you've seen 'em all...
If I were to pick this up and no turds got thrown, I'd be major upset!
im picking it up, should be fun
Posted by TonyStark4prez on 09/03/08 at 09:21 AMI'm thinking of picking this up. But at 3.99 I don't see the point.
Posted by Kory on 09/03/08 at 11:37 AMHey, at least this book contains no ads... if only because no one wants to advertise in this joke of a book...
Posted by TemporalBeef on 09/03/08 at 11:53 AMDepending on the art I'll be picking this up.
Posted by s1lentslayer on 09/03/08 at 12:11 PMHere's a 6 page preview if anyone's interested:
http://uk.comics.ign.com/articles/906/906892p1.html
It has "Marvel Comics Proudly Presents" but there's a line crossed through the word "proudly", heh. At least they know it's a joke.
Amazing Super-man even has a variant monkey cover this week.
Posted by deadspace on 09/03/08 at 01:11 PMYeah, just read that six page preview, no way, no how, definitely not pickin this up. But, any ape variant covers by Frank Cho, or Art Adams, I will pick up.
Posted by ActualButt on 09/03/08 at 02:02 PM@deadspace - thanks for the preview link. I agree with AB, after reading through the six pages, this comic does not look to good. So I won't be picking this up. If by some miracle it gets better in the next issues, i'll pick up the trade. $3.99!?! - the audacity!
Posted by AdamZ on 09/03/08 at 02:37 PMThis doesn't look great, yet it is full of monkeys.
So I guess I have to get it. Plus, I'm sure they're laying the ground work for the next Secret Invasion:
Are you a Monkey?
Posted by mannalive on 09/03/08 at 02:56 PMMannalive you just given me a great idea. Remember how useless and stupid House of M: Civil War is? Now we can invest are hard own cash on, you guessed it right
House of M: Civil War: Secret Invasion Apes
Total bestseller right there.
Posted by TheNextChampion on 09/03/08 at 03:07 PMI was wrong. Iron Man's not an orangutan. It's Iron Man-drill. Jesus H. I'm already tired of the monkey puns. I'm all for puns and lame villains (I loved Modok's 11; the one thing this may have going for it is The Gibbon), but this is just too much.
Posted by NeoApocalypse on 09/03/08 at 03:34 PMI did not notice the price but now I did so I think I will wait for trade.
Posted by Guardedmarman on 09/03/08 at 03:44 PMstupid....i will wait for trade. looks dumb neways.
Superman/Batman #51 people now THERE is fun comics
Posted by rayclark on 09/03/08 at 09:24 PMThe first marvel zombies was good and thats where they should have ended this whole alternate marvel with stuff with apes or zombies or robots or ninjas or what have you, its the same thing with the movie industry where when scary movie 1 came out it was nice an original an actually funny but then a whole slew of movies followed like disaster movie superhero movie date movie etc etc...marvel needs to end this before it spreads thruout the comic book universe like the cancer that it is.
Posted by noro26 on 09/03/08 at 10:17 PM
@noro: Shhhh!!! Dont mention other series like Robots or Ninja's.....the marvel writers might be reading this! lol
Posted by TheNextChampion on 09/03/08 at 10:44 PM@deadspace Thanks for the link.
Looks like i'll be sitting this one out.
Posted by cman12 on 09/03/08 at 11:31 PMWith a letterer like Jared Fletcher, it's got to be good. His lettering is dope.
Posted by zenman on 09/04/08 at 09:24 AMI was just at my LCS and the guy laughed when he got this comic out for the customers. No one pre-ordered it, and he knows that many of his regular costumers wont pick this up...God I love the people.
Yeah after seeing that 6 page preview....it isnt terrible, it's just terribly boring. Nothing exciting with those pages and nothing that makes me want to pick it up...Thank god I didnt get to see those monkey puns though...
Posted by TheNextChampion on 09/04/08 at 02:00 PMI read three panels.
Posted by JumpingJupiter on 09/04/08 at 02:09 PMI'd like to see a Marvel Pirates ;-)
Actually, give me a Marvel Ducks or Marvel Sheep and I'm so there.
Posted by deadspace on 09/04/08 at 05:03 PM@deadspace - Marvel Vampires (but i guess a vampire is too similar to a zombie).
Wow, did anyone pick this up and like it?
Posted by AdamZ on 09/04/08 at 05:43 PMMarvel Baywatch
Posted by Kimbo on 09/04/08 at 08:54 PMPicked it up ... Spent nearly 20 seconds flipping thru it ... Put it back ... Went home and showered.
Posted by zenman on 09/04/08 at 09:29 PMI feel dumb. I bought it...and...it SUCKED. The story was plain stupid. The art was sophomoric. Wow...I feel dumb, dirty and foolish. Kinda like if I voted for McCain.
Posted by Lewis on 09/04/08 at 09:40 PMI bought it and I actually really enjoyed it. The inside art was much better than the cover and to story was fun and interesting. It only a four issue mini, come on. If you didn't buy this comic you really shouldn't comment on it.
Posted by weddleb on 09/04/08 at 09:58 PMliked it, just as I thought, a fun read
Posted by TonyStark4prez on 09/04/08 at 11:22 PMDoes anybody else's cover look like a bad scan?
Posted by Nate on 09/05/08 at 08:18 AM@Lewis- I guess I'm dumb dirty and foolish. :)
Posted by Kory on 09/05/08 at 10:29 AM@weddleb: I did not know the comments section was restricted to only those that bought the book. (I thought that was only the case for the reviews section!). In my case, I learned all I needed to know from a 20 second flip thru (i.e., it was not for me), but of course your mileage may vary. If you enjoyed it, then it was good purchase & money well spent, and that is the bottom line.
Posted by zenman on 09/05/08 at 04:00 PM
Sheesh! Marvel, give us apes a break whydoncha. Were're not all dumb asses!
Posted by TheApeThatEscaped on 09/07/08 at 04:19 PMThis sucked quite bad.
Posted by jing7wei on 09/09/08 at 01:13 PMRather read this than the last couple Pick of the Weeks by the ifanboys!!!!
Posted by boostergold4 on 09/10/08 at 09:07 PMThis was quite good and the ending took a dark turn I did not see coming.

If this turns into one of the highest selling books this year...I'm gonna quit comics all over again. No way will this be good, no way.
