Look at that... Galactus taken down easily for the 18000000000 time. Still, could be a good time.

Posted by PraxJarvin on 09/21/09 at 03:09 PM

@Prax-Well at least its not like the last creative team dealt with the death of Galactus in any way.  Wait, um....nevermind

Posted by MisterJ on 09/21/09 at 03:29 PM

Yeah, exactaly when did Galactus become the galaxy's biggest push-over?  I didn't read Annihilation, was he involved in that at all?  What happend to the big, purple planet eater?  I blame the cloud in FF2...

Posted by DarthDuck on 09/21/09 at 04:10 PM

@DarthDuck He appeared in the first Annihilation where he was taken out off-camera and turned into a battery.

Posted by PraxJarvin on 09/21/09 at 04:17 PM

I'm assuming it's the same galactus from Millar's run so wasn't he from the future or another dimension so he could be a weakling when they turned him into a battery

Great issue from Hickman and Eaglesham on their first outing and I wasn't confused at all by not reading the mini Hickman wrote.

Posted by Ruo21 on 09/21/09 at 07:04 PM

I don't like the fantastic four, I don't like Hickman and I don't like Eaglesham but , god damn, that last issue wasn't bad

Posted by edward on 09/21/09 at 07:42 PM

I'm loving the chunky, Doc Savage-eque, 1970's, square jawed Reed! The colour art was great last ish too

Posted by 23skidoo on 09/22/09 at 05:36 AM

I'm on board for Hickman and hunky Reed. It's like I'm eight years old again and rushing out to buy the latest FF comic.

Posted by Garrett on 09/22/09 at 08:35 AM

Gotta run out and pick up 570 first.  Love Hickman on this, and I'm glad to be picking  up FF again, hope this team stays on for a good long run.

Posted by PhantomPhrenemy on 09/22/09 at 11:41 AM

@Edward- It's good to see you being absurdly positive.

Posted by Ruo21 on 09/22/09 at 01:39 PM

He's fucking wearing an Infinity Gauntlet!!! Represent!!!

Posted by rockingeek on 09/22/09 at 06:03 PM

Reed is such a badass.

Posted by kwisdumb on 09/22/09 at 08:04 PM

@rockingeek  i love how after last issue we have to say "an Infinity Gauntlet" instead of "the Infinity Gauntlet"  it's awesome!

Posted by RoiVampire on 09/23/09 at 12:40 PM

That was great.  Not what i was expecting at the end, either.

Posted by magnum240 on 09/23/09 at 04:36 PM

This was crazy awesome, Infinity guantlats, galactus, dooms, surgery on suns, fat reed, and celestials! What else could you want? My POTW, now I'm excited about the fantastic four for the first time.

"A Must REED"

Posted by PaulMontgomery on 09/23/09 at 06:14 PM

I can't believe I am counting the days til the next issue of FF comes out next month.  Kudos to Hickman for making me not only care about the FF again, but keeping me wanting more.

Posted by robkristie on 09/23/09 at 06:34 PM

"An absolutley fantastic issue."

I can do it too Paul :)

Seriously though, great stuff here, tough to beat for my POW.

Posted by CAM on 09/23/09 at 07:12 PM

@Paul You're fucking right!

The end is unbelievably awesome and the whole issue is wicked superb!

Wow! 3$ well spent! A Must buy.

Posted by rockingeek on 09/23/09 at 07:21 PM

My LCS got shorted on this issue so I didn't get mine.  Curses!

Posted by thehorseman on 09/23/09 at 08:08 PM

I'm not a huge Marvel fan so I had to look up why the ending was a big deal, but other than that, that was amazing.  So glad I decided to give this a shot last issue.

Posted by Slockhart on 09/23/09 at 10:16 PM

GAH! This was my most anticipated book of the week, yet somehow I made it out of the store without picking it up! NowI have to decide if I trek back to the store just for this, or just wait until next week, which I anticipate will be a weaker week than this was. Gah!

Posted by Andrew on 09/23/09 at 11:21 PM

Oh, that was quite good. But it was a subtle good for me. A slow burn, as it were. Writing complimented art and vice versa. It's not as innovative as Detective Comics' art but damn if it doesn't look good. This is what the Fantastic Four should be. Reminds me a bit of the Waid/Weirengo run. Great stuff. 5/5 for me. And my POTW.

Posted by PraxJarvin on 09/23/09 at 11:32 PM

Lord these are really disinteresting covers. The interiors look great but the covers...very blah. Maybe if mounts colored them they'd pop more

Posted by mikeandzod21 on 09/24/09 at 12:10 AM

Didn't even realize this was coming out until I saw the POTW.  So excited to get this tonight!

Posted by SunnyvaleTrash on 09/24/09 at 09:31 AM

@mikeandzod21 ???disinteresting??? He's "standing" on a Dead Galactus and wielding an Infinity Gauntlet... in space!???

You don't like Alan Davis's art? Cause, personally, I think this is a fucking cool cover!

Posted by rockingeek on 09/24/09 at 09:39 AM

I think this is the first time I've selected a pick of the week before finishing m stack.  I don't even know where to begin in expressing all that I loved about this book.  Absolutely awesome and I can't wait for this story to continue.  I'm blown away.

Posted by DarthDuck on 09/24/09 at 09:52 AM

Man I'm a big FF fan and I've enjoyed the last two issues but I'm not near as excited about these as everyone else....

Posted by cubman987 on 09/24/09 at 10:48 AM

@rockingeek eh I just find davis' art to be very bland, this cover especially. Maybe it's the way it's colored, or the art style just being boring to me. I'd much rather see Eaglesham do cover for this.

Posted by mikeandzod21 on 09/25/09 at 12:25 AM

I am so glad I can finally be excited about the FF again. Hickman and Eaglesham are doing what no one else has for far too long. They are writing the FF instead of THEIR FF and it is working.

Posted by CaptainSweatpants on 09/25/09 at 01:29 AM

Epic.

Posted by cromulent on 09/25/09 at 03:56 AM

@mikeandzod21
I would certainly not consider this cover bland. I could see that argument for Davis' cover on the Dark Reign: The List: X-Men: Men and List-Men: One Shot: #1 this week as it's pretty much standard comic fare (though I wouldn't call that cover bland at all, either), but rockingeek is on the money: this cover is anything but bland. Just his description is cause for a tiny, "That's awesome!"

I will say though, that I need to get the 1st issue as I don't think this one left me with as much excitement as I should feel. I thought it was great, don't get me wrong, but I think the lack of part 1 of the arc made me less anxious for the next part.

Posted by captbastrd on 09/25/09 at 04:00 AM

What a great comic book. 5/5.

Posted by kwisdumb on 09/25/09 at 05:51 AM

both cliff hanger at the end of last issue and the cliff hanger at the end of this issue left me dying for the next. THIS IS SO GOOD!!!

Posted by TopGun on 09/25/09 at 06:18 AM

@mikeandzod21 Eaglesham's doing the variant and they are boring.

Posted by rockingeek on 09/25/09 at 08:06 AM

POTW hands down.  The breakfast scene had me laughing, and the various days with the council were very interesting.  This run is the first time i've seen Eaglesham's work and I am impressed.

Posted by SunnyvaleTrash on 09/25/09 at 09:52 AM

there were two really well written and heart braking scenes in this issue. Both involved Reed and Sue. First, "But it's you I've studied the most" Second, He leaves her in bed... so sad.

Reed, stop hanging around with your cool new buddies. You're Hurting Sue!!

P.s. I like Captian Universe Reed the most... what a stupipd but strangely awesome costume

Posted by edward on 09/25/09 at 10:13 AM

With what they were doing with all the Dooms, I thought this was going to go another way. But I guess it's true: "You take the good, you take the bad, you take it all and there you have the facts of life. The facts of life."

Posted by cromulent on 09/25/09 at 12:07 PM

Good issue with a great ending.

Posted by ProjectX2 on 09/25/09 at 06:33 PM

@rockingeek: Eaglesham didn't actually draw any variants (he did some amazing work on the JSA variants, however). For FF, they're just using the cameos he drew for the covers. Cheap marketing ploy.

Posted by Ambidextron on 09/25/09 at 08:03 PM

I take it all back, this was my second pick. Immortal Weapons #3 takes the prize.

Posted by Mangaman on 09/25/09 at 10:22 PM

Man, is Sue gonna be pissed.  And I think Ben is gonna have to take Reed down a notch.

Johnny was obnoxious...nice.

Posted by Urthona on 09/27/09 at 01:08 AM

I already commented on Ron's review thread, but I have to say it again. Damn am i happy to have the FF back!

Posted by JohnVFerrigno on 09/28/09 at 12:16 AM

The ending was the most interesting part.
