Dark Tower The Fall Of Gilead #1 (OF 6)
A horrified Steven Deschain learns that the deadly seeing sphere called Maerlyn's Grapefruit has been stolen from his chambers! Far worse, when he enters his wife's rooms to arrest her for the theft, his son Roland is standing over her body with a gun in his hand. The youngest gunslinger has perhaps committed the most hideous crime of all!
Continuing the epic saga based on the best-selling Dark Tower novels by the master Stephen King. It's the first chapter in the most incredible storyline yet.

I just read the first one and holy crap is it crazy, I heard it's nothing like the others though.
Posted by Ipitythefool on 05/11/09 at 08:07 PMI loved the first couple of series, when it was stories already told in the novels, just with awesome Jae Lee artwork, but the new orignal stories haven't worked so well for me. If anyone other than King writes this world it just rings false to me. *shrugs*
I'd like to see more stories from the novels re-done for comics.
Posted by WadeWilson on 05/12/09 at 04:54 AM@WadeWilson - I would love to see the first novel retold in comic form. Especially the Tull portion. That final shootout, with Jae Lee art, WOW.
Posted by stuclach on 05/12/09 at 08:52 AMIs it best to read the arcs in order or are they unrelated?
Posted by deadspace on 05/12/09 at 11:04 AM@deadspace - I believe they are essentially one long story being told in chronological order, so I would suggest you try to check the last three out at your local library.
Posted by stuclach on 05/12/09 at 12:48 PMI just started reading the novel. Only like 50 pages in on Gunslinger, so now i'm amped to see how the Tull thing turns out and image Jae Lee's art =P .
@deadspace - yeah i think it would only be a fun read if you start at the beginning and in order.
Posted by Fvckstick on 05/12/09 at 07:51 PM@Fvckstick - Gunslinger is my favorite of the 7 novels. They are all enjoyable, but the tone after Gunslinger is more mellow (for lack of a better word). Gunslinger is simply intense from start to finish. It would make a phenomenal movie.
Posted by stuclach on 05/13/09 at 09:05 AMPretty solid 4 star. Some really good lines through out the book, and the end result will be an interesting shift in the characters in the spotlight. And i really wanna make a point of saying that this is an amazing cover and really should be the basic statement for the whole series, to people who don't know anything about it. Gritty post-apacolyptic western...CANT WAIT TILL NEXT MONTH!
Is it just me or does Jae Lee draw this composition almost everytime?
