I don't think I'd ever read a Mr. Fear story before this, but man he is a great villian.

I can't wait for this issue, only so I can see the hopeful ass kicking of Mr. Fear.  Daredevil's his best when he beats the holy hell out of his enemies.  This arc has been really fun, and I can't wait for Bru and Rucka to be on this book.

i'll be honest - i can't wait for this issue, because i want this ar finished. i don't been that great (compare to the previous arcs on this title) - and it feels like it's been going on forever. i'm only buying this one because i've come this far, and i don't see the point in boycotting one issue.

Yeah, I REALLY can't wait for this to be over with. Brubaker's first two arcs on this book were amazing, but for the last year this book has steadily gone down hill. We SHOULD care about all of the things happening to Milla but (imo) we don't. It seems like every element Brubaker's built is on the verge of wearing out its welcome in a hurry. I've always really liked Daredevil, but if the next arc doesn't turn things around, I'm off the book, at least for a while.

First, this cover is AMAZING. With that said I agree that I want this arc to be over. While I like the Mr. Fear villain, I can't stand Milla. Her character does nothing for me and makes me want to not read Daredevil. She needs to die or disappear just like all of Matt's other girls in the past (except Elektra).

@comicdork37- Yeah, this issue does have an amazing cover.  I'm thinking it's cover of the week.

I cannot agree more with you guys, this arc has been seemingly so long about someone i really cant stand(milla). Milla was terrible character in Bendis's run and she's even more so here.  Seriously, a blind chick who knows Matt Murdock is Daredevil and expects to be in a normal relationship, let alone a marrige?  What was Matt even thinking getting married? IT MAKES NO SENSE!

 BLAH!  Getting that out of the way, I can't wait for the next arc with Greg Rucka and then the daredevil/black tarantulla team up.

@PatK

 It was pretty definativley established in Bendis' run that he only married Milla because of his inability to cope with Karen's death.

well this was most definetly my POW. this arc is the first time i've read daredevil and up until know I was never interested in the character but this issue was just awesome. Plus we might get another good hood story ot of this.

Posted by Archon on 02/27/08 at 05:28 PM

definitely my anti-POW. so..the big ending was that...nothing changed? so..."nothing" was the surprise ending?  milla's still crazy, matt's still mopey, and larry cranston is still cocky?

this arc was flat in so many ways. i was psyched to see the hood earlier, but he never even did anything interesting, beyond exchanging strong wors with cranston.

 blech. here's hoping the next arc involves something more interesting, and that some of the non-action in this arc has some significance down the road - then i could at least justify buying it.

This arc shuffled Milla off to the side.. something most people commenting here seemed to be asking for.

 I liked the ending, it's nice to see the bad guys win sometimes and clearly Bru isn't done with Mr. Fear.

Wow, I can't remember when the last issue THIS GOOD was. This pretty much single-handedly pulls me back into this title. Brubaker's set up so many potential plotlines, I'm looking forward to seeing where he takes Matt next and when he'll choose to return to Fear and the Hood.

The art of the epilogue was especially nice. I love how those trees looked.

@balfuego:

Ya man I just bought up and read the hardcovers ( damn that omnibus) for the whole bendis run, they definitely tried to play it off as such intially, though I think they went back and forth without ever establishing anything. After the whole divorce thing and at the end of Bendis's run they deffinitely tried to play Matt's relationship as genuine. Having just read the last issue of the Murdock papers, man Milla is pathetic, hah.

I'm glad this issue is getting great comments, can't wait to check it out.

@PatK

When is the Bru run coming to an end? I haven't heard that Rucka is taking over after. If this is true I might be dropping this title even though I have been on since #1. Probably at least give it a try though. Just haven't been a big fan of Rucka in the past, although I did like Whiteout.

Posted by comicdork37 on 02/28/08 at 09:48 AM

Brubaker isn't leaving, but Rucka is coming on to co-write an arc with him. Remember they used to write Gotham Central together.

I agree with people above--Mr. Fear is a pretty cool villian. I was glad to see him stand up to Red Hood, although what's the deal with hooded villains?

I sort of think it would be funny if Hell's Kitchen in the comic were updated to what it's actually like now...yuppie playground.

This was about as anti-climatic as possible. With that said I am glad it is done. I am intrigued by Mr. Fear though. Did anyone else notice that Mr. Fear's mask is basically the Punisher skull and his costume is basically that of Dr. Doom? Hopefully the next arc is better. Either way I am sure I will still continue to read as long as Bru is on it in at least some capacity.

@PatK -- . After the whole divorce thing and at the end of Bendis's run they deffinitely tried to play Matt's relationship as genuine.

I'm not sure what you mean by "genuine." It was made pretty clear, at the end of the Europe story, that he was still carrying a torch for Karen; hence the plot point that Lilly's perfume made him think Karen and not Milla.  I don't think anyone has ever mistaken Milla for the love of Matt's life, and I don't think Bru's tried to portray her that way.  Does that mean that he should not try to protect her or save her?

It was a cool story. It reminded me of Kraven's Last Hunt. Good use of the Enforcers. I liked seeing them fight the Wrecking Crew. Matt was outmatched, he should have called in a buddy.
