I love the cover. Can't wait for this issue.

This is gonna be a big fight, I can sense it in my Brubaker sense....right below the heart actually.

There's only a few issues left of this 'Death of Cap' storyline right? I mean, the Red Skull is gonna run out of ideas eventuall.

I wish I'd started reading this a lot sooner! Where the hell is the next TP??

Posted by emberwistle on 07/14/08 at 09:58 PM

Great cover.  I wonder who this imposter Cap is?

@thebouv ... ????? Have you been reading this title?

Posted by jobob247 on 07/15/08 at 12:11 AM

I just finished the trades that encompass caps death, and I think they left off at #36. I really wish I had the issues in between 36 and this one, but I think i can fill in the blanks thanks to the interwebs.

The story is moving so slow right now - I am really on the fence with this book right now.  It has so much potential but is moving as a snail's pace (IMO)

Feel free to sling the arrow now.

@thenextchampion

I hope your right! A sweet big fight between these two would put this book over the top for sure. Bucky as Cap is suprisingly awesome!

I picked up JSA last week and now I'm gonna get this because it's another book I hear nothing but good things about.

When I saw the cover of last issue, I thought it would be a tie-in with Avengers/Invaders. But no, we've got fake Steve and Bucky together here. This should be a good fight. The last time there was an epic fight like this on the cover, the inside was just as awesome.

So wait, in the Marvel Universe, there are currently 3 Captain Americas running around: Fake Steve, Bucky Barnes, and Steve Rogers displaced in time. It would be sick to see all three together.

Posted by TheSeanFromLaramie on 07/15/08 at 10:39 AM

I think the whole avengers/invaders thing presumably happens in a pretty short time-frame, more or less divorced from main continuity, so it's a stretch to say they're all running around at the same time.  Maybe?  (I'm not actually reading avengers/invaders)

I think Ed Brubaker has saidt that the older Cap vs. Cap cover is the first Captain America he read as a kid, inspired his love of comics, etc.  So I'm expecting to see him really bring it to this story.

Oh  my, how many issues does Epting have left?

Posted by WilliamKScurryJr on 07/15/08 at 03:51 PM

YES YES YES I CAN NOT WAIT!!

Another great issue. I got to the last page and uttered a "NOOOOOO!" Not so much because of what the last panel showed but because it WAS the last panel. This issue flew by, not only because it was made up of a lot of fight scenes but because there was so much intensity. I too was worried that this series might be getting a little close to the Daredevil malaise of 8-2 months ago, but I feel this issue kicked things into fifth gear again.

Posted by flapjaxx on 07/16/08 at 06:34 PM

@flapjaxx I felt the same way. Does anyone know if Brubaker is going to stick around after he wraps up this red skull thing? I really hope he does. I can't imagine anyone else writing this.

There's something about Skull, Faustus, and Zola snapping at each other that just kills me. It's like they are teenage boys playing D&D or something "..I was trying to compliment him..." great issue.

As a new guy I was fairly lost...but I enjoyed this because to me it was a real page turner.  I found myself eagerly anticipating the next page because it felt like something bad was going to happen.

Who was the girl that was stabbed at the end?

Posted by Kory on 07/17/08 at 09:42 AM

@Kory - Sharon Carter, Cap's pregnant girlfriend.

I can't say it enough. The omnibus which collects 1-25 is so worth it here. For those of you just getting on this wagon, give it a shot.

Posted by jobob247 on 07/18/08 at 10:52 AM

@jobob247:  Actually, no I haven't been reading it.  Just loved the cover and read the description about "true identity".

See, now I have to pick it up.

Posted by thebouv on 07/18/08 at 12:43 PM

I thought that this was a really depressing issue.

Posted by adrian on 07/19/08 at 08:33 PM

Good issue. I jumped on this title at ish 25 but the omnibus is on its way.
