Avengers Initiative #27
Blastaar's alien army has seized 42, the Initiative's prison in the Negative Zone. Someone has to take it back, and the Taskmaster has assembled a team to do just that. But when Komodo looks around her at the squad of Z-list super-villains she's supposed to go into battle with, she wonders if this is a recovery job...or a suicide mission! And when she encounters familiar faces who had been incarcerated within the prison, will they be friend or foe? Also, because you demanded it--the return of Butterball!

Posted by rift1128 on 08/24/09 at 08:55 PMWhat do I love about Avengers stories? With an Avengers story, the premise hinges on a shared universe. Which Avengers book does that better, or at least different, than every other Avengers book? INITIATIVE. plus, it manages to do so while keeping its own continuity and canon of concepts.
Posted by ABirdseysView on 08/24/09 at 09:47 PMI've enjoyed the entire run so far but this book has flourished a little better in the past. All I say say is more Butterball!!!
Posted by JesTr on 08/26/09 at 08:00 AMah the first story broke my heart. really sad. second was pritty good too. also think it will help lead to the downfall of norman latter.
Posted by CaptianJack on 08/26/09 at 11:39 PMMan that first story was heartbreaking but really well told. Great issue!
Posted by rift1128 on 08/27/09 at 07:39 AMAlmost gave this a 5, but part two wasn't quite strong enough.
Posted by ScorpionMasada on 08/27/09 at 10:22 AMnone of those characters on the cover were in the book!!!
Posted by skeets on 08/27/09 at 07:23 PM@skeets: Yeah Marvel has a really bad habit of doing that.

I tried to drop this series at the end of the last arc, but then I found myself buying it anyway. This title is just much too fun to miss.
