Loving this mini too. Pollina's art has had a great natural progression. I've been a fan of his since X-Force, and he's gotten beter an better.

I like the character (Angel) and I agree the art is fantastic (that is what drew me in). The "story" is just plodding along way too slowly for me to justify continuing on, especially with the $4 price tag. I'm writing off the $12 spent on the first 3 issues as sunk cost.
Posted by zenman on 08/29/08 at 01:45 PMThis mini has surpassed all my expectations. This is a surprise hit for me like the Battlin' Jack Murdock mini last year. As said by comicdork37, there are cliche elements in the story I scoffed at initially (the deviant priest for example) but the plot threads, the interesting characters and the unbelievable art by Adam Pollina won me over. The level of craft that went into this book is through the roof. People should check this out.
Posted by ghostwriter on 09/12/08 at 12:33 AMThis was a pleasent surprise. I was lucky my local store had issues 1 - 4 still in stock. I dig the stylized art. Story's pretty cool...little predicable but hey it's an interesting take on an established x-man.

Another beautiful issue. I know that some people will see the story as being predictable and some elements (child-molesting priest) as being overdone but I just don't care. The art is amazing and there are little insights into Angel's powers that I never knew or always wondered about (i.e. he has super-strength, his bones are hollow, he doesn't feel cold or heat [that would explain the spandex no matter what the weather in later years], etc). I just can't say enough about how beautiful the art is in this book; it's like reading a comic book via church stained-glass windows. Loved every page.
