Outstanding cover art by Joe Quesada!  He is one of the best Spider-Man in the suit pencilers there is.  His stuff is always dynamic and jumps out at you.

Waid has been excellent recently.

No lie. Really like that cover.

I'm excited for Waid back on Spidey!

Posted by Fvckstick on 04/20/09 at 09:13 PM

I'm so glad to be reading spidey again.  I'll give Quesada all the credit in the world for the new "weekly" format

Posted by cutty on 04/20/09 at 09:35 PM

Mckone drew the one part of everything after New Ways To Die that I didn't much enjoy. But, I'm sure Waid will kill it so I'm still onboard.

Posted by uberlush on 04/20/09 at 10:03 PM

Yup yup.  That cover is poster worthy.  Even without that enticement, I'm still onboard every week.  ASM is a comic soap opera - exactly like good superhero comics should be.

Will give it a shot, haven't picked up a spidey book since Civil War, but I like Mark Waid.

No.

Andy Lanning on inks... so confused.

Posted by Ruo21 on 04/21/09 at 12:23 AM

the last time Quesada drew Spider-Man covers it didn't turn out so well

Posted by mikegraham6 on 04/21/09 at 06:05 AM

@Ruo21: Andy Lanning is one of the best and most prolific inkers in comics.

Posted by conor on 04/21/09 at 09:21 AM

I'm kind of a noob. Isn't he the guy that writes GoTG and Nova. Why isn't he inking that series if that's the case?

Posted by Ruo21 on 04/21/09 at 07:13 PM

Different creative teams for different things. Why should he ink those books? Someone else is. He's focusing on a different aspect of them.

Many hands make light work and all that.

Posted by Cooper on 04/21/09 at 07:23 PM

Andy Lanning's resume.  Look at that list of books he has inked!

Posted by conor on 04/21/09 at 09:42 PM

Thanks champ.

Good cover, can't wait for this arc.

Read this in the store...that is a pretty damn good cover by Joey Q. Two things though:

1) This feels exactely like the old Spider-Man vs JJJ feud. But instead of the Daily Bugle the new HQ is the Mayor's office.

2) Waid and McKone has made me sick to my stomach....Last page, naked Aunt May....*vomits*

Ho-hum overall in my eyes....especially with the leathery skin I had to see at the end of this :(

@ TNC back home in Wyoming, my comic store owner had a revolver under the counter. He'd pull it out and point it unerringly at the heads of kids who only read the books and never buy saying "THIS AIN'T A GOD DAMN LIBRARY!" Good times.

True story. His name was Stan. Next time you buy a comic in Jackson, tell him Rich says hi.

Posted by mountainwindcat on 04/22/09 at 08:44 PM

@mountain: Hahaha! That is classic dude. I mean....I have a feeling that is very pants wetting scary when he does it....But I see what your getting at with me only reading it in the store.

Which is why I am not rating it or reviewing it, that wouldnt be fair. But when I did read it I didnt see it as a 'great' book. It was good from what I remember....but again....that last page.....*shudders*

If anyone has seen 'Harold and Maude' and know the classic monologue the priest does in that film....that's basically my attitude towards what I saw.

first issue ive pciked up since the very first issue of BND...my buddy at my store gave me an endless stream of shit becuase of our mutual hatred of this title's direction...but Waid and Mckone with a Quasada cover...but if this issue doesnt knock me on my ass and amaze the shit out of me, then thats that.

Posted by mikeandzod21 on 04/23/09 at 12:32 AM

man, i was digging it til they left JJJ's office.  completly lost me in the last five pages

Posted by mikeandzod21 on 04/23/09 at 01:26 AM

Loved this. Can't get enough of Amazing these days. However, seem to be in the minority here in thinking that the cover is merely good, not great.

Posted by brianmaru on 04/23/09 at 01:07 PM

Loved loved love this. Mark Waid does Peter Parker SPOT-ON in my opinion. Can't wait to see more of this storyline. 5/5.

So good.  So funny.  Everyone is gettin 'some 'cept for Spidey.

Posted by Crippler on 04/23/09 at 08:53 PM

What was the deal with the Sleepy's product placement in this one? Am i the only one who noticed?

Posted by JohnVFerrigno on 04/23/09 at 11:19 PM

After hearing great things about this book on the podcast, I decided to jump on with this issue. Apparently, so did Aunt May. Go, girl!

Posted by bnicholas1 on 04/24/09 at 02:52 PM

What a great last panel.

Posted by Fvckstick on 04/25/09 at 02:55 PM

@JohnVFerrigno - I noticed it too and I'm totally calling the return of Sleepwalker right here, right now!

Posted by DarthDuck on 04/25/09 at 09:53 PM

@DarthDuck

LMAO! As long as they don't bring back Typeface. If you see an ad for OfficeMax, RUN!

Posted by JohnVFerrigno on 04/26/09 at 05:25 AM

Great Issue.

Also, the most interesting letter's page I've read in a long time.
