Scalped #32
The intensity ratchets up yet another notch in part three of "The Gnawing" as Dash Bad Horse feels the walls closing in all around him. The drunken mystic called Catcher claims to be sent by the gods to save Bad Horse from himself, while the jailed murderer Diesel claims to be the closest thing Bad Horse has to a friend. But can he really trust either one of them?

Hopefully Jason Aaron will be doing DMZ.
(that would actually be kinds cool, if Vertigo creators did each other's books for a month, "out of continuity")
Posted by Cooper on 10/12/09 at 05:59 PM@Cooper- No, not really. We already have to wait a month and a half for Scalped to come out, last thing I'd want is someone other than Aaron writing it.
Posted by Ruo21 on 10/12/09 at 06:21 PMI'm interested to see how Wood can tell this story.
Posted by vadamowens on 10/12/09 at 07:37 PMNo way Wood as writer can be correct. This is the middle of a big arc, not a one shot.
Posted by Ruo21 on 10/12/09 at 08:43 PMThis series does the one-shot'ish issue in the middle of arcs quite a bit - those little departures from the story to concentrate on a specific character or two.
And nothing in the solicit talks about the Hmong/RedCrow conflict, so I'd assume that's what we're getting.
Posted by cutty on 10/12/09 at 10:15 PMWood is listed as the writer on Vertigo's website, so must be correct.
Last couple issues were awesome so I was looking forward to this, but now Wood makes me nervous, I don't like change.
Posted by shenanigans on 10/13/09 at 12:02 AMThat's awesome that Wood's writing this. He's one of my fave writers. Looking forward to reding it when the trade comes.
Posted by deadspace on 10/13/09 at 12:31 AMIf Wood's really writing this, i am pretty intrigued. I would trust him to do a good job with an issue, but i think this is Aaron's masterpiece so far in his career.
Posted by SunnyvaleTrash on 10/13/09 at 10:04 AMGuys, it's a typo. Aaron even confirmed it on his Twitter. This is his book, no one else's. Well, maybe R M Guera's.
Posted by Cooper on 10/13/09 at 02:36 PMGreat!
Posted by cutty on 10/13/09 at 08:43 PMWell, cool then. That made zero sense for him to make an appearance.
Posted by vadamowens on 10/13/09 at 09:52 PMI hope whoever made that type gets fired.
Posted by cromulent on 10/14/09 at 02:59 PMoh shit.....
Posted by cromulent on 10/14/09 at 03:00 PMYa I saw that Vertigo has it down on their website. I've also noticed IGN is all excited about it being a Brian Wood issue, but its really silly to think that a writer would take over in the middle of one of the biggest arcs of a series. If it was a one-shot that might be understandable, but even then I would doubt it. No other option, but for that to be a typo.
Posted by Ruo21 on 10/14/09 at 03:27 PMWe...eird?
Posted by rockingeek on 10/14/09 at 11:33 PMGetting the discussion back on track... awesome issue, yet again. If Gina is pregnant... fuck.
Posted by SunnyvaleTrash on 10/15/09 at 10:14 AMNot by Brian Wood at all. Good issue -- definately building to the end of the arc. I really noticed Guerra's backgrounds in this issue for some reason. Really great work in the panel to panel story telling artwork! Love this book.
Posted by DenverDave on 10/15/09 at 12:11 PM@sunnyvale - Carol you mean. And agreed...
@Denver - I remember when this book first came out, I loved it despite Guera's art, which I hated. Now I can't imagine Scalped without it - he's come such a long way
Posted by cutty on 10/15/09 at 06:12 PMWhen a lady throws up, it's rarely because she's pregnant. (but we'll see...)
Posted by PymSlap on 10/17/09 at 06:50 PMA woman throwing up for no apparent reason (in a work of fiction) is almost always a hint that she is pregnant.
Posted by JesseG on 10/17/09 at 11:07 PM
She's a fucking junky!
Posted by rockingeek on 10/19/09 at 02:46 PMShe's pregnant. This is such a great series.
