Posted by JoeNY on 05/28/08 at 10:27 AMHmmm...different strokes I suppose...This has easily been one of my most entertaining books so far this year.
I love character studies in different locales. I'm in it for the long haul.
And I just can't get enough of the coloring on this book. You often tend to only notice the colorer when they are either really good or really bad. In this case, it brings an extra edge to the art that makes it look more exotic and foreign.
Posted by TomO on 05/28/08 at 11:24 AMI'm liking the book as well. I really love the art.
Posted by ScottB on 05/28/08 at 11:51 AMSlow is good.
Great art, and a lon draw on the story. In trades might be better for the fast burners, but I like the way this one is playing.
Another strong issue. I have to say I love the pace of this book - slow is indeed good in this case. Am I alone in absolutely loving this artist!
Posted by youngday on 05/29/08 at 08:42 PMYes the book is slow. But the relationships that it is exploring and the changes in the main character make this book the book it is. This is a great book. If you don't like it fine. Its not for everyone. Drop it and go back to capes if you don't like the story. I love this one. i look forward to it a lot. I don't remember the pulp pages in the past. I have to go back and look at the previous issues. I think it works well for this book though.
Posted by astyak on 05/30/08 at 07:26 PMI like this book. It reminds me a little of the recent King Arthur Movie with Clive Owen or the movie PathFinder. It is a little slow, but I like Brian Wood's story telling, the characters and the art so I'm willing to roll with it.
