Final Crisis Hc

Final Crisis Hc

Best-selling writer Grant Morrison (BATMAN, ALL-STAR SUPERMAN, JLA) and critically acclaimed artist J.G. Jones (52, Wanted) redefine what it means to be a modern day Super Hero in this cosmic epic.

What happens when evil wins? That's the question Superman, Batman, the Justice League and every being in the DCU have to face when Darkseid and his otherworldly legion of narcissistic followers actually win the war between light and dark. Featuring the deaths and resurrections of major DC characters, FINAL CRISIS is more than your average multi-part event - it's a deconstruction of Super Hero comics and a challenging, thought-provoking take on the modern, four-color icons.

Collects FINAL CRISIS #1-7, FINAL CRISIS: SUPERMAN BEYOND #1-2 and FINAL CRISIS: SUBMIT.

Written by Grant Morrison
Art by J.G. Jones, Carlos Pacheco, Jesus Merino, Marco Rudy, Doug Mahnke and Christian Alamy

Is this the edition that has Superman Beyond in it? If so I'll probably pick this up.

Looks like it's just the FINAL CRISIS issues.

That's a shame. I was sure they were releasing one with all 7 issues, Superman Beyond and Submit. I'll hold out for that one.

This should be it. It was originally solicited at $24.99 and going to come out in April/May. My only disapointment is that it's not oversized like R.I.P.

Count me in.

I love the cover.

Different websites are saying different things about the issues contained.

Hey yeah, wasnt this suppose to have the 'Morrison reading order' for this trade? (sans the Batman issues involved). That doesnt make sense....Guess I wont review it til I see the inside of this thing myself.

I didn't particularly enjoy FINAL CRISIS as a story, but that cover is fantastic.

I don't think Final Crisis #1-7 would account for 240 pages alone.

This should have the SUPERMAN BEYOND issues in it.  My guess is the above copy is from the original solicit, not the updated one.

according to DC blog it collects FINAL CRISIS #1-7, FINAL CRISIS: SUPERMAN BEYOND #1-2 and FINAL CRISIS: SUBMIT.

Amazon lists it at 350 pages.

Would I understand the story if I were to buy this or what else should I get.  R.I.P?

Posted by BettyWhite on 06/09/09 at 05:54 PM

Solicitation info updated.

Posted by conor on 06/09/09 at 07:07 PM

@BettyWhite: (Man that is weird to type that) Everything except one thing is collected in here. It's not required but Morrison also said 'Batman #682-683' should be read with this as well. I believe you need to read it before FC #6. But it's not really important to read all that much for the overall story. Probably why it was omitted for the trade

Posted by TheNextChampion on 06/09/09 at 07:54 PM

yep, those 2 Batman issues would have been nice...  they were already collected in the Batman RIP hardcover, but i wonder if they might have fit better with this collection...

Posted by insight on 06/09/09 at 08:03 PM

I have not read RIP yet either.  Is that needed and if so, should I read that before this, or after?

Posted by BettyWhite on 06/09/09 at 11:23 PM

Yes it's a perfect 10!

Posted by TheNextChampion on 06/10/09 at 02:25 PM

I flipped through it at the store, and it does indeed have the Superman Beyond issues in it, along with Final Crisis: Submit.  Looked pretty good!

Posted by Jim on 06/10/09 at 03:06 PM

@BettyWhite, RIP isn't really essential to understand Final Crisis...  but if you read them both, read RIP first, up until the last 2 issues of the hardcover...  save those 2 issues for reading between Final Crisis 5 and 6...

can anyone tell me if the issue covers are included?  hero and/or sliver covers?

Posted by insight on 06/12/09 at 03:59 PM

Yes all of the covers are included.  I really wish they would have given this the RIP HC treatment (Larger size and higher quality paper.)  But until the day an Absolute edition comes out, I'll enjoy reading this over and over again.
