Detective Comics #847

First part of this tie-in was really good. Gives me high hopes for the rest of this arc. It's Dini, it's Batman, it's Hush....Is there any reason to be afraid of this run?

Yes, the batman book you can understand what's happening in it is out. Dini and Nguyen are kicking some ass!

I loved the last issue, can't wait for this one! With this, and Robin and Nightwing both owning it right now, it's a good time to be a Batman fan.

Cant' wait for this!  I just can't stand Hush, he's lame.

Lame villain or not, Dini's run on Detective has for me at least, been the most enjoyable bat book on the planet right now.

It would be nice if more people could compliment Detective without taking shots at Batman. The fans of Morrison's title don't feel the need to say things like, "Gosh, it's so much better to read something that's actually challenging and different, and not the run-of-the-mill typical little no-consequence stories that Dini does." Don't get me wrong, I like this Detective run well enough, but I don't see anything too stupendous about it. I hope fewer ancient Greek authors are name-dropped in part two. It's neat, though. And stories with Batman and Catwoman running around together are something DC should always publish if they want to attract younger or new readers. So it's a good thing. But I'm starting to think putting the "R.I.P." banner on basically irrelevant stories is not a good thing, because it invites unfair comparisons and builds up narrative expectations.

Dude, after 3 issues R.I.P. has gone off the rails thats why people are liking this book.  You don't nee LSD to get it.  But if you're liking the regular Batman more power to you,  I'm praying it gets better so I can enjoy it.

I wasn't a huge fan of the last issue, it was OK, but nothing to write home about. Hopefully this issue kicks things up a notch (or three).

The best thing to me about this arc is that it is actually an arc and not a Dini run-and-done one shot story.  I know people like that style but it does not work for me.  I am excited to see what he can do to develop a story and carry it over several issues.

I really like Morrison's Batman. Sure it's confusing as hell but I am enjoying it. I agree with flapjaxx that just because this is has a more simple plot then Morrison's run; doesnt mean it's better. All the Batman titles, as of right now, are great for their own reasons.

I'm liking this run so far cause Dini knows how to write Batman. Sure it isnt as confusing as a drugged up Batman, but it's just as entertaining as the main event title.

I think it's misleading by DC to label this a tie-in to RIP (so far), this is the kind of marketing ploy of "let's take em' for what we can" that turns so many people off big crossovers.

As far as this title being better than Batman right now, that's totally subjective, it all comes down to personal taste of a story -- no title is "better".

I think RIP is getting a really bad (and undeserved) rap right now. Sure, I hated last issue's acid trip ... uh, I mean issue, as much as the next guy, but the first two isses of RIP were awesome. I think the delay hasn't helped it, there hasn't been a good issue (that we're all hoping for) to wash the bad taste of last issue out of our comic mouths.  

Let's not be so quick to right off the whole RIP just becuase of one bump in the road.

I have'nt written it off just yet.  But last issue left me wondering where the hell it's going.

I think its simply a matter of tastes. You know going into a Grant Morrison book that there are gonna be some "out there" ideas. its just the way he is and it what makes him great. Then you have detective comics which is a much more straight forward book about batman in his life. Both are great in thier own perspective ways.

Love the writer and dig the artist. Problem is, I hate Hush. He's boring and generic and even a talented man like Dini seems to be trying too hard to make Hush a relevant villain. Disliked the last issue a ton, skipping this arc from here on out. 

Did'nt like it 'till Scarecrow showed up.  I love that guy as a villian.

This issue was way better than the first part of the story, I liked it a lot. The back story of Hush is some good stuff. You can tell that this story was already written and the editors decided to label it an RIP tie-in, the same thing with this weeks Nightwing issue. Mentioning the Black Glove & Jezabel Jet one time, does not make this a tie-in. I understand that it's business & they gotta do what they gotta do to sell books, but calling this an RIP tie-in is almost a flat out lie.

It might end up hurting DC in the end, with so many people not liking RIP, people might avoid the RIP label & not buy it because of it, and that's a shame, because this has nothing to do with RIP and it's a really good issue. Close to my personal POW.

Dustin Nguyen's art has really grown on me. I didn't like it at all when he started, but now I look forward to it.
