excellent i have just reread "a dream of a thousand cats" and wanted more Kelley Jones ... i love his work so even if the story is rubbish (which i hope it isnt) it certainly will look beautiful
Posted by nicks911e on 05/28/08 at 07:54 AMHmm... Looks intriguing. I'll bite.
Posted by limegintonic on 05/28/08 at 11:03 AMJones is probably my second favorite Bat-artist behind Jim Aparo. He really breathed alot of life and especially STYLE into Batman during his years on the book.
Posted by southbymidwest on 05/28/08 at 03:57 PMThe Jones art sells itself.
Posted by mistersizzle on 05/28/08 at 10:02 PMIs this Niles' first crack at Batman?
Posted by Superyan on 05/28/08 at 11:38 PMI agree mistersizzle -- the Jones art is off the scale. It's exciting to see him doing Batman again.

I believe Niles did a prestige format miniseries a few years back with scott hampton called Gotham County Line. I didn't read it (i wans't even reading comics until two years ago) , so i don't know if it's any good, but i have heard of it.
Posted by MisterBlank on 05/29/08 at 03:01 PMI wasn't that into this issue. I picked up because the art was great, but I didn't find it that interesting. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for another Batman book. The last page was great, at least visually, but there wasn't much story impact to it for me. Thought the page where the clock strikes midnight was pretty wonderful. Regular folks running indoors, shutting their blinds, peering outside nervously, while all sorts of dangerous hooligans emerge from the shadows, alleyways, and, why not, the sewers. Anyway, was this bad, or was I just not in the mood? I don't think I'm going to pick up the second issue.
Posted by NealAppeal on 05/30/08 at 05:34 PMI'm with you NealAppeal -- I wasn't very impressed with this book. The art seemed rushed & almost unfinished in the second half of the book, and I totally agree that the story was pretty bland & unintersting.
I'll stick with it a couple more issues though and see if things pick up. This is a 12 issue story, and it's impossible to judge it yet, but I'd hate if this is ANOTHER story that could have been told in far less issues & they ruin it by trying to stretch things out just to make more money.
Posted by WadeWilson on 05/31/08 at 01:27 AMSo...
that wasn't very good.

30 Days of Night's Steve Niles? This is the first I've heard of this book. I think I'll flip through it first.
