I heard a lot of people griping about beechen's take on this character. I checked out the IGN previews and it looked good to me.

What are people crying about, exactly?

I think they ruined Batgirl with the One Year Later revamp bullshit, by making her a villain. Sure, they made it all a cop out saying Deathstroke drugged her and was controlling her, but still ... since One Year Later they have basically thrown this character in the garbage. Hopefully this mini can bring her back. I think she's an AWESOME character.

They are saying Beechen sucks a big wang basically.

I think Beechen's run on Robin was EXCELLENT in spite of the editorially mandated move for Batgirl. It's been fixed now (in Titans) so it's pretty easy to get over.

I think the OYL story was the only Beechen story I've read to date that wasn't awful, personally. His contributions to Countdown were all the worst issues of the series. And his Teen Titans were awful. I'm giving this one issue to do something for me, because I like the character, though.

I'm reading this cuz I love Batgirl and even though I think DC editorial ruined her character, I think Beechen came up with an awful way to do it (DC said jump and Beechen set the bar).

If he can make me care, all will be forgiven... But that first arc on Robin was something I hated so, so much... And his Teen Titans run was God awful...

Basically what iGotKittyPryde said...

I'm not very familiar with Cassandra Cain, all I really know about her is she's comfortable being nude, is bitter and lots of people hate or mistrust her.

Great start for me, so I have hopes I 'll understand her better with this mini.

@PhantomPhrenemy That's all Post-Infinite Crisis. Her stuff before was just so, so good. It was some of my favorite comics when I was starting up...

For real, Gungadin, her solo book was awesome. Too bad it didn't sell & they had to "shuffle the deck" with her character & tried to fix what wasn't broken.

I'm not a huge Beechen fan, but if he can do something decent with this mini & bring her character back near where it was, I'll be happy.

I liked her solo book too and the art was great on it for a long time.

ya know I know this a trivial gripe but I don't like her costume, it's a little too S&M for me.  Take the bottom of the face mask off and let the gal breathe already!

Wow, Dick was such a ... dick in this issue. I've never seen him written like this before. I understand the part he had to play in the story -- Devil's Advocate or whatever, but I just woulda bought it more if Tim played this role. Nightwing as a pouting teenager having a temper tantrum just didn't work for me.

One question for you guys -- does anyone know where the murder of the pharmaceutical guy, talked about took place? I'm guessing it was in issues of Robin that I missed? If someone can tell me issue numbers, that'd be awesome.
