I'm SOOOOOOO freaking excited for this, words can't even express it.

However, I'm also crushed that it's all coming to an end. When this is over with all star superman may be my favorite comic of all time.

I can't wait for the trade that has all 12 issues.

Posted by s1lentslayer on 09/15/08 at 06:44 PM

it's a bittersweet moment. On one hand we're getting another awesome issue of All-star Superman but on the hand, it's the final issue. Kinda reminds of the last issue of Astonishing with Cassaday and Whedon. Either way I'm looking forward to this.

Should I pick this up in Trade?  I'm not normally a Morrison fan.

Posted by Brandon2 on 09/15/08 at 07:29 PM

@Brandon2: Yes, pick it up. Many people who don't normally like Morrison's "weirder" work love All Star Superman and say that they can't believe this is the same guy who writes "Batman" and "Final Crisis".

Posted by flapjaxx on 09/15/08 at 07:32 PM

@Brandon2 - This does not feel like Morrison at all (or at least the Morrison I am familiar with).  If it feels like anything of his it is JLA, which is the least Morrison thing he has ever written.

I demand more people to pull this book.  I demand it, I tells ya!

So happy to see this issue shipping this week.  I just finished the Vol. 1 TPB today and can't wait to read the next 6 issues!

I love this comic.

Posted by leland222 on 09/15/08 at 09:16 PM

I had no idea twelve issues ago, a Superman comic would be my favorite thing coming out.

Gah! Why did I wait for the trades for this!? I gotta wait for December for this thing in HC? Curse me and my cheap ways!

Posted by TheNextChampion on 09/15/08 at 11:19 PM

it sucks that this is the last issue, but I'm excited to see what Quitely does next

Posted by cutty on 09/16/08 at 12:38 AM

I'm just wondering how in the hell all the stories are gonna be resolved in 22 pages, but morrison is a master of the last issue so i have faith in him. but still, that much story for 22 pages? I wish this was double sized.

Words cannot express how jazzed I am for this to finally be released, if only so I can finally buy the 2nd trade in three months time.

Posted by OttoBott on 09/16/08 at 10:48 AM

This is definitely the best comic out there. Pity its coming to an end. I am not sure if I want to buy this or wait for the TPB. Tough choice.

Posted by technogoy on 09/16/08 at 12:07 PM

This is exciting and sad and the same time. I'm sure this'll all go down as one of the best Superman stories of all time. I have no doubt about it. Absolute All Star Superman 2009? 2010? I don't know when, but I'm already lining up to buy it.

Posted by RolandofGilead on 09/16/08 at 10:26 PM

I can't wait for the Absolute Edition of this.  It's gotta happen sooner or later, right?  I mean, this is a modern classic!

And that gorgeous Quitely art in all it's enlarged goodness would be awesome.

What a great way to cap off the series.

Posted by mulletpeep on 09/17/08 at 06:19 PM

Honestly, I got last issue, read it when I was really tired and got totally lost. I'm a Marvel guy usually. Should I give this issue another whirl?

Posted by DenverDave on 09/18/08 at 12:53 AM

@DenverDave

First, why do you pick up the last issue of a series that from what I can tell from your comment, you haven't read before?

Just go back and pick up the first trade and see if you can't find some of the other issues, if you can't just wait for the second trade in December.

Posted by thefragilenin on 09/18/08 at 09:42 AM

this was my potw this week, it really was the perfect way to end it all. IT was the greatest ending to the greatest superman comic of all time.

Posted by matthaber on 09/18/08 at 07:44 PM

This should be their potw too-unfortunately the 'agenda' remains.....pick a book that needs help selling to stave off cancelation or pick a book that the DIEHARD, HARDCORE fans think is worthy.....too bad Connor prefers Echo (an acquired taste).  Oh well, he like tonight's Smallville too, so there you go.

Having read all but two of the issues, All Star Superman #12 left me with a feeling that i can't describe although i can say that i now know what it feels like to be cracked. Maybe i should just lock myself in a padded room, curl up in the fetal position with my stack of Marvel comics and cry for mommy.

Grant Morrison? MOMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My brain must be wired differently to the majority of comic readers, because I don't see how this book is SO highly regarded. It has 52% of the User iFanbase's POW vote & for me personally, it's not even a contender. I guess I kept reading this to try to figure out what I must be missing that everyone else sees, but I still don't see it. I think this week's Action Comics was way better. I guess it all comes down to personal taste & my taste is way different to most people's.

This series is my PoTW.. this issue, not so much.  It should have dropped the 12 issue format and not tried to squeeze it all down into one final book.  Too much ground covered too quickly.  Too bad.  A good ending to a great series.  (that's a step down).
