Conor says this is "New Reader Friendly". I never read Vol.1. lets see if its true.  It probably is!  =)

also Conor should say "Riiiich People" at least once per episode

There's no excuse to not read V. 1 (it's $6!). But yeah this volume seems to be going in a different direction.

I don't know... I'd drop the $6 on the first trade because this story is character driven.

I think it's new characters though.

Posted by miyamotofreak on 06/08/09 at 08:12 PM

Really?  No holdovers at all?  I hope that's not the case because I quite enjoyed the main characters from the first volume.

Posted by OddsBodkins on 06/08/09 at 08:20 PM

I'm sure there are holdovers.

But I think we have new lead protaginists.

Got the trade on the strength of the free comic.  Free comic was actually better.

I really didn't like the FCBD issue....like...really really.....really didn't like it. I like guggenheim's other stuff but it felt like a completely different person at the helm of that FCBD issue

The new series is IN COLOR, with a new artist, and has a new direction but reading the first series is still a must.  Oh, and a plug, since I can.  If you are in LA, come to the premiere signing this weekend and get all your Resurrection stuff signed by Guggenheim. Details here.  Also, meet Mark Sable, writer of Unthinkable, Grounded and more.

@CParadise: It's not a must to read the first series.  You can understand this issue just fine without it.   I certainly did.

It might be nice to read the previous series, but it's not a must.

After reading this, I agree you definitely don't need to read the trade to jump on.  Unfortunately, this was a bit of a letdown in comparison.  Still, I'm staying on this title on the strength of everything that came out before this issue.

Posted by OddsBodkins on 06/11/09 at 07:51 AM

It felt like 5 issues crammed in one.

But still good.
