Presidential Material Barack Obama
In the vein of great biography comics from years past (Pope John Paul II, St. Francis of Assisi), come two biographies of the 2008 Presidential candidates. This year's presidential primary season was historic for many reasons, and Barack Obama's rise from humble beginnings to his place on the November ballot makes for an extraordinary tale! Quick question: I actually have this at my work and I was wondering on reviewing them. Should I do seperate reviews or each canidate or do one full review? Cause if anyone didnt know, it's one big comic and you flip it to see both sides of the story. Just curious.
Posted by TheNextChampion on 10/07/08 at 07:24 PM@TheNextChampion - This isn't one big comic. There are three versions. One for Obama, one for McCain, and one with both.
Posted by conor on 10/07/08 at 08:41 PM@conor: Well my store got the one with both, so how should I review this? As seperate issues or as one big book?
Posted by TheNextChampion on 10/07/08 at 09:02 PM@Champion: I would suggest reviewing them together, comparing and contrasting them. That makes the most sense to me. Is there any rule against posting the same review for 2 different comics if they are related? I would post the same review talking about the issues as a whole under each of the singles pulls.
Posted by comicdork37 on 10/07/08 at 10:10 PMBy the way, I will be picking up the flip book for my grandma (who read about this book in the newspaper and asked me to pick it up for her) but I will definitely be reading it before passing it on to her. Anyone else have a Grandma that will give comics a try every once in a while. So far I have got her to read Maus and Blankets; both of which she enjoyed.
Posted by comicdork37 on 10/07/08 at 10:16 PMWell I guess I'll have to review them seperately since there isnt an option to read the book that had both sides on the same book. But I'll make sure I am fair and balanced with my reviews, nothings worse then forcing politics in your reviews. A Pox I say!
......(Vote for Obama on Nov. 4th)
Posted by TheNextChampion on 10/08/08 at 12:42 AMPlease America, for the love of god (or whoever) vote Obama.
Posted by deadspace on 10/08/08 at 02:29 PMJust curious, has this ever been done before for other presidential elections? I think this is work picking up based on the historical significance of this election alone regardless of which way you vote.
Posted by scooken on 10/08/08 at 09:56 PMThere is an entry for the version with both: it's listed as 'Presidential Material Flipbook'.
Posted by Aerodynamics on 10/08/08 at 10:44 PMI hope this has the parts where Obama makes friendly with terrorists or the parts where he and his wife talk about how much they hate America. thats good comics
Posted by Seagalism on 10/08/08 at 11:30 PMI thought it was interesting, I was told my comic book shop sold out of Obama issues in the first two hours they were opened. I managed to get the last flip book, but there were still plenty of McCain issues left...
